Anna Jean Hedelius

Anna Jean Ott Hedelius passed into the arms of her loving Savior on Dec.15, 2025 after a very long and productive life.

Anna Jean was welcomed as the 7th of 10 children born to her immigrant father Jacob and her mother Victoria Totusek Ott in Irby Washington on Dec. 21,1928. She liked to say that she was born on the shortest day of the year and was the shortest in her family.

Her youthful life was filled with teamwork amongst her siblings including and not limited to milking cows, caring for farmyard duties, playing ball and other childhood games as they listened for the train to pass their home several times a day.

She attended her primary school years in Irby and her high school years in Everett Washington where she stayed with her oldest sister Ester. At the completion of high school, Anna Jean attended Washington State College where she earned a bachelor's degree in physical education. She enjoyed teaching for a short time and was very involved in the women’s dance and ball clubs on campus. She graduated from WSC in 1951 and joined her other 9 siblings who are all graduates of WSC.

She met her future husband Robert Keith Hedelius in the Do Si Do club at WSC. They were married August 5th, 1951 in Odessa Washington and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 14th 1954 following her baptism into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints. They are the parents of 8 children who are Leah, MaryEllen, Alice, Ryan, Eric, Diana, Kathleen and Charles. She is the proud grandmother of 33 grandchildren and 81 great grandchildren.

Anna Jean joined a large, happy reunion in heaven which included her parents, the other of her 9 siblings, her husband and her sons Ryan and Charles.

Anna Jean loves the gospel of Jesus Christ. From the time of her baptism she was always faithful to its teachings.

Next to her love for the gospel is her love for music. She loved to sing and shared her talent and abilities whether on the program or not at times. It was always a gift she shared with those around her.

Anna Jean’s life celebration will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025 in the Latter Day Saints Chapel at 200 W. 450 N. in Ephraim, Utah. A visitation may be attended from 9-10:30 AM that morning and her funeral will begin at 11AM. Interment will follow in the Ephraim Park Cemetery.
