Carol Porter Warnick, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, passed away October 31, 2026, at age 91. Her life was defined by unwavering faith, devotion to family, hard work, and service to others.
Carol was born May 6, 1935, in Cedar City, Utah, to Fay and Elizabeth Porter. She was born a twin, although her twin passed away at birth. Raised in a log cabin in Escalante during the Great Depression, she learned resourcefulness, gratitude, and the importance of family. When she was seven, her family moved to Utah County, eventually living in Provo, Orem, American Fork, and Pleasant Grove. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, developing a lifelong appreciation for music, art, and literature.
Carol met the love of her life, Robert Eldredge “Bob” Warnick, in Pleasant Grove shortly after his return from serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They married July 1, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple, beginning a loving partnership that lasted nearly 69 years.
Together, Carol and Bob raised six children and welcomed a foster daughter. Their early years included military life, frequent moves, and the challenges of raising a growing family. Through it all, Carol demonstrated resilience, determination, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Carol balanced family responsibilities with a successful professional and community life. She worked several years at Amalgamated Sugar Company and 11 years at the Bank of Ephraim. After settling in Ephraim in 1975, she became actively involved in civic affairs. Carol and Bob received Outstanding Achievement awards through The Salt Lake Tribune Civic Beautification Program for three consecutive years, 1979–1981.
During Bob's two terms as mayor of Ephraim, Carol was his steadfast partner and supporter. She also served as secretary of the Sanpete Sanitary Landfill Cooperative and, in 1992, as Auxiliary President of the Utah League of Cities and Towns. In 1997, she received Snow College's Distinguished Alumni Award.
Faith and service were central to Carol's life. In 1994, she and Bob were among the first missionaries called to Cambodia following the Church's official recognition there. Their service included humanitarian efforts and helping establish the Church in a country recovering from decades of hardship. Carol considered their Cambodian mission one of the highlights of their lives.
Carol and Bob later served more than a decade as temple workers in the Manti Utah Temple and as missionaries at the Snow College Institute of Religion from 2002 to 2004.
Throughout her life, Carol cherished family, friendships, and the simple blessings of everyday life. She loved music, appreciated the arts, and remembered those who influenced her with great affection. Her greatest joy was her family, and she took immense pride in the generations that followed. She also held a special place in her heart for her dogs, Tippy, Smudge, and O'Henry, who she affectionately considered as family.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eldredge Warnick, who passed away June 28, 2022, just three days before their 69th wedding anniversary; her daughter Debi Eagar; and son-in-law Jim Eagar.
She is survived by her children Robert (Jill) Warnick, Clark (Lisa) Warnick, Jon (Clara) Warnick, Kelly (Julie) Warnick, and Faylyn Warnick; foster daughter Carmelita Etsitty; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Reflecting on her life, Carol once wrote, “We have been truly blessed. We have a wonderful family who love each other.”
Carol's favorite song was “You Are My Sunshine,” a fitting reflection of the warmth and love she brought to those around her. Though deeply missed, her light will continue to shine through the generations of family she leaves behind.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 762 East 1200 North, Orem, Utah. A viewing will precede the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
