Cherri Lee Draper George

11/17/1947 – 04/03/2018

Cherri Lee Draper George passed away in the early hours of April 3, 2018 after a two year struggle to regain her independence due to a severe stroke that was the first of many. Although she fought to come back many times, it was a gradual decline. She never gave up the fight to the very end. Both her strokes and her passing brought family members from all over to be by her side. Many thanks to Kathy who advocated her right to live as independent as possible in Assisted Living. Her kindness can never be repaid.
Cherri was born November 17, 1947 growing into a very head-strong young woman to parents, Delno (Mike) & Nyla Ruth Hamblin Draper. She has one brother & three sisters…Dick, Vicki (Jim), Lana, & Jo Dee. She married Johnny Hugh George on November 2, 1962. Later divorced after 28 years and four children … Helen Ruth (Lou), Debra Lynn (Bobby), Johnny Ray, Dana Lee (Paul). She was preceded in death by her parents and ex-husband.
She loved all babies and they loved her right back. Of course, her twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren were the light in her life! She took great pride in the years that she drove a school bus for the disabled children. All animals were her passion especially her dogs! Many speeches were wasted trying to convince her that she had her quota and could not take in more! She loved to cook (especially baking) and shared a unique bond over special dishes/treats with many family members (fudge, sugar cookies, divinity, quiche, etc.) Ladybugs were her trademark and an example of how she enjoyed pure nature. She had a deep love of the outdoors. Her yearning for the mountains and camping supported her hobby of collecting “heart-shaped” rocks. She collected many bells over the years from all over starting with the first that was purchased in Yellowstone Park.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Rasmussen Mortuary in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 4:00 PM in the Ephraim Cemetery where her ashes will be buried in the loving embrace of her mother, Nyla.
