Cody James Mcgowan

August 18, 1995 — October 20, 2022

8/18/1995 ~ 10/20/2022

On Thursday, October 20, 2022, Cody James McGowan unexpectedly passed away, at 27 years old. He is husband to Kenzie and father to Ryder and Tayvia McGowan. He was born August 18, 1995, in American Fork, UT, to David and Char McGowan. Cody is David and Char’s oldest of 7 children
Cody was a ball of energy from the moment he learned to walk. Nothing could keep him still. Growing up you could find Cody running around the neighborhood with all his friends and siblings. He loved playing sports, especially football. To say Cody was fearless is an understatement. He loved any kind of adventure. He and His siblings enjoyed many of the same things and so they had many great adventures together over the years.
Cody loved his family so much and nothing was more important to him than his wife, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and in laws. He loved doing the things he enjoyed with his son Ryder and teaching him all the things that daddy was passionate about. Ryder was his best adventure buddy. Tayvia had daddy wrapped around her little fingers. She could bring the biggest smile to his face. Cody got his love of fishing, hunting, camping, and just about anything outdoors, from his father David. This love of the outdoors is something Cody took pleasure in passing down to his little family. Cody was also blessed to have so many close friends that have been great examples to him throughout his life.
Cody was amazingly gifted with his hands. He could build just about anything. He could think of something cool to build and figure out how to do it. Even when he was very young, he would have great ideas and set about to make it happen. He loved welding and was on his high school’s welding team. He took that welding ability into his work life. He has installed stereos, built airplane tugs and built swimming pools in his work experience. He was one of the hardest working individuals and gave 110% to anything he was working on.
Cody had the gentlest heart, was kind to everyone and was always willing to serve others. Cody’s presence will be missed, but we know that through God’s grace we will all be together again someday. Our knowledge of our Heavenly Father’s plan for all of us will carry us through this immense grief. We feel so incredibly blessed to have had Cody in our lives and we will remember all the wonderful times we shared together here on this earth, and we will continue to look forward to the day we meet again in our Heavenly Father’s presence.
Cody is survived by his siblings Bradley (Abigale), David, Matthew, Joshua, Zachary and Abigail. He is grandson to David and Barbara McGowan, Alice Pack and Parris and Cleo Pack. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who love him dearly and with which he had many fun times with growing up. Cody was also blessed to have so many that he called friends. We wish we could list them all, but they all know who they are and they know how much we love them and love the examples they were to Cody growing up. Cody was blessed with so many who love him.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints 1167 South 1700 East Spanish Fork, UT 84660. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com
