It is with tremendous sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Scott on September 5, 2026.

Scott was a deeply loved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was an incredibly hard worker, remarkably talented, and one of those people who could learn to do almost anything he set his mind to. There wasn't much Scott couldn't build, repair or figure out.

Music was a tremendous part of who he was. Scott was a gifted songwriter and guitar player who wrote many songs throughout his life, leaving his family with another beautiful way to remember him.

But more than anything Scott could build, fix, play or write, we will remember the way he loved.

Scott loved his family fiercely. He was especially protective of his younger sisters, Barb and Gina, and his cousin Leslie. He was the kind of big brother who made sure the people he loved always knew he was in their corner. That same love extended throughout his entire family and to the many people he collected as friends along the way.

Since Scott's passing, memories have poured in from people who knew him through the many chapters of his life. They speak of his talent, his tremendous work ethic, his toughness, his humor, his music and, again and again, the enormous heart behind it all.

Scott leaves behind his wife, Jill; his daughters, Morgan and Sheena; his parents, Dan and Helen; his sisters, Barbara and Gina; his brother-in-law, Jason Smith; his beloved aunts, Margie, Luann and Kathy; his cousin Shawn and family; his nieces and nephew; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives he touched along the way.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gene and Rachel Syme, and Helen and Woodrow Naylor; his uncles, Ron Syme and Morris Syme; and his cousins, Leslie Syme Gustamantes and Justin Syme.

Scott leaves behind a family who loved him beyond measure and countless memories that will be told, laughed about, cried over and carried forward for generations.

His life was so much bigger than anything we could ever fit into an obituary, and his place in our family can never be filled.

Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

We were blessed to have Scott in our lives for as long as we did. We will love him always.
