DARWIN DAY OBITUARY

Darwin Roger Day, 64, of Fillmore, Utah hiked through the veil on August 12, 2019 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to continue serving in Heaven, something he did so well here on Earth.
Darwin was born on July 17th, 1955 in Fillmore, Utah to parents, Max and LuDean Day.
His love of nature, the mountains, and all God’s critters was surpassed only by his love for his Heavenly Father, Savior, and family. His latest goal in life was to hike the highest peaks in all the western states. He had almost accomplished that goal when, on Gannett Peak in Wyoming, a pulmonary edema stopped his heart and stopped him. He was life-flighted by Idaho Search and Rescue to Eastern Idaho Regional Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where the wonderful nurses and doctors tried for 3 days to save him, but the damage to his brain proved to be too much. He was able to continue serving in death by donating both kidneys and his liver, along with much of his tissues.

Our little “fetcher” was so good at everything he tried, whether it was carpentry, hiking, serving, or one of his favorite hobbies, photography. His pictures were beautiful, and he loved sharing them with people.

Darwin was a faithful member of the Fillmore 4th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many capacities. He was currently serving as Deacon’s Quorum advisor and Scoutmaster where he strived to teach his young men everything they needed to know about merit badges and camping and all that scouting involved. Darwin was an Eagle Scout himself and knew the value of scouting and respecting nature and all its beauties. He saw the beauty in everything from rocks, snakes, butterflies, mountains, flowers, rainbows, and sunsets. He was always happiest when he was in the mountains, in the temple, or serving others.

Darwin was employed by Great Lakes Cheese as the Facilities Maintenance person for 16 dedicated years. He served a faithful mission for the Church in the Adelaide Australian Mission.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Cindy, daughters Amanda(Rob) Stevens, Lydia(Nick) Winterholler, and Savannah Day, his mom, LuDean Day, brothers, Kevin(Annette) Day and Preston Day, sister Arlene(Ken) Berrett, grandkids, Mason, Morgan, and Cameron Stevens, Paige, Ethan, Aria, Elena Winterholler, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his dad, Max, and his brother, Dallin.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fillmore 4th Ward Chapel (330 E 500 S, Fillmore) with a Viewing from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment in the Fillmore City Cemetery. Online condolence rasmussenmortuary.com
