David Earl Beck

November 18, 1956 — February 27, 2024

Magna/Spring City

David (Doc) Earl Beck passed away on Tuesday February 27, 2024 due to complications from an unknown illness. He was born on November 18, 1956, in Mt. Pleasant, UT to Earl J. and Ilena Decena Edmunds Beck of Spring City, UT. He attended schools in Spring City, Moroni, and Mt. Pleasant, graduating from North Sanpete High School. After High School he joined the Utah National Guard. Following Basic Training Dave worked for Road Runner Trailers in Ephraim, UT and the Norbest Turkey Plant in Moroni, UT before beginning a 20-year career as a coal miner for Energy West Coal Mining Company in Huntington, UT.

On December 26, 1981 Dave married the love of his life, Linda Howell. They enjoyed 42 years together.

Throughout his life Dave enjoyed serving his community. He was part of the Army National Guard, North Sanpete Search & Rescue, and served as a volunteer on the Spring City Fire Department, and both the Fire Department and Ambulance Crews, for Mt. Pleasant City. In January 2011 he and Linda moved to West Point, UT. Leaving Sanpete was a hard decision for him, but while in West Point, he joined the American Legion and really enjoyed time spent with this organization. Dave was the type of guy that never had a hard time making friends.

Dave had a close call in 2012 when he was hit by a driver while on his motorcycle. After 101 days of rehab, he returned home, and because of his determination he got to live another 12 years with Linda. His family was concerned when he purchased another motorcycle, but he told them he wasn’t going to give up something he loved for an accident he did remember.

Coming from a small-town gave Dave a love of nature. His hobbies included Camping, Hunting, Fishing, Guns, Motorcycles and Cars. He wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty doing his own auto repairs and reloading his own ammo.

Dave is survived by his Wife Linda Howell Beck of Magna, Honorary Daughters Brooke Ann Wilcox of Magna, Brandie (Jesse) Pheal of Fairview, Chantel (Bryan) Brandford of West Valley, Sister Marie Beck Memmott of Nephi, nieces Tammy (David) Gunter  & Deb (John) Reid, nephew Mark Memmott and their children. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Sister Clara Louise Beck Green, brother-in-law Tom Memmott, and nephew James Memmott.
