David Burton

MT. PLEASANT-- David Bruce Burton, age 79, passed away April 15, 2024, at his home in Mt. Pleasant.

Dave was born in Mt. Pleasant to Abraham and Carol Jones Burton on March 29, 1945. He had three siblings, Jerry, Karen and Jim.

Dave grew up in Mt. Pleasant, where he graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1963. He also graduated from Sevier Valley Technical College, Richfield.

Dave married Jeanette Yardley Dec. 13, 1969. They were married for 53 years. Together, they had two sons, Kenneth Dan and David Ryan.

Dave courted his wife on his Harley Davidson motorcycle “the Hog” which Jeanette learned to drive after they were married.

Later Dave and Jeanette took the family on a cruise to the Bahamas. The two also traveled to England to meet Ken, when he was stationed there while in the Air Force. They loved touring the country with him.

Dave spent most of his life as a long-haul truck driver, driving cross country for many years. He then went to work for a company that was laying a pipeline. He drove a truck that went straight up and down mountains aided by a D8 Caterpillar.

Dave enjoyed camping and hunting with family members. He was a tinker, who enjoyed working on one thing or another. For the last few years, he has been restoring an adobe house that has taken a lot of work.

Dave was also a member of the Sanpete Search and Rescue for many years. He did maintenance on their equipment and helped with the finish work on their newly constructed building.

Dave is survived by his two sons, Ken (Erik Dell) and Ryan (Angela Nicholes); his brother, Jerry; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and nine neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, who passed away March 15, 2022; his brother, Jim; a sister, Karen; and a niece, Jill Harper.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 North 100 West, Mt. Pleasant.

Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 26 and at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 27, both at Rasmussen Mortuary. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
