Dennis James Roberts, age 80, passed away surrounded by his family on April 14 at the Mervyn Sharp Bennion Veterans Home. He was born on April 7, 1946, in Murray, Utah, to Frank Alfred Roberts and Clarissa Dansie Roberts. Dennis was raised in Riverton, Utah. He attended Bingham High School where he excelled in both football and baseball. After High School Dennis served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Alaska and British Columbia Mission. Then he attended Snow College where he met the love of his life, Anita Davis. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on June 20, 1969. After graduating from Snow College, He proudly served his country with honors in the Vietnam War as a member of the 75th Airborne Rangers. When he returned home, he began installing garage doors. In 1977 he founded his own garage door installation company, building a legacy of hard work and dedication. His son, James Roberts, continues that legacy today through Roberts & Sons Garage Doors. Dennis served his community and church in many meaningful ways, including as a Wales Town Board member and as Mayor for many years. In his church, he served as a Stake High Council member and as Bishop of two wards. As a dedicated Scoutmaster, he played a pivotal role in guiding around 30 young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Dennis is survived by his sister Barbara Wilcox and sister-in-law Shirley Roberts and his children Annalyn (Evan) James of Logandale, NV; Alissa (Cameron) Broadbent of South Jordan, UT; Wendle (Briana) Roberts of Wales, UT; Michael (Janalyne) Roberts of Mountain View, WY; Matthew (Natalie) Roberts of Wales, UT; James (Karen) Roberts of Wales, UT; Brice (Lauralee) Roberts of Wales, UT; Brett (Marisha) Roberts of Lindon, UT. His is also survived by his 28 grandchildren: Tyler Caldwell, Jordan James, Tanner (Joy) James, Ashlee (Dallin) Lester, Matthew Broadbent, Dyllan (Chauncey) Roberts, Wyatt Roberts, Laramie Roberts, Jesse Roberts, Marshall Roberts, Mikenzie (Kaden) Jackson, Mikaylie Roberts, Jocelyne Roberts, Jake Roberts, London Roberts, Paige Roberts, Brooklyn Roberts, Jackson Roberts, Brynlee Roberts, Katelyn Roberts, Avery Roberts, Hallie Roberts, Boston Roberts, Curtis Roberts, Kallee Roberts, Austin Roberts, Audrey Roberts, and Jonathan Roberts.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Alfred Roberts and Clarissa Ellen Dansie Roberts; his wife, Anita Lynn Davis Roberts; his brother, LaMar Frank Roberts; his son, Jacob Frank Roberts; and his grandchildren, Hailey Roberts and Allison Roberts.
Dennis was known for his great kindness and his ability to be a peacemaker. He loved spending time with his family at his cabin, going on hunting and fishing trips, and riding horses. He taught his children to treat others with kindness and to never speak negatively of others, a legacy that will hopefully continue through his family.
Viewings will be held at the Wales Chapel on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held on April 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wales Chapel. Interment will follow at the Wales Town Cemetery.
Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated staff at the Mervyn Sharp Bennion Central Utah Veterans Home and the Central Valley Medical Center for the exceptional care and kindness they showed to our father and grandfather.
