Diane Colleen Morley

November 22, 1942 — July 25, 2025

Diane Colleen Jorgensen Morley, beloved wife, mother and grandmother was surrounded by her family as she passed away on July 25, 2025, to be reunited with her eternal sweetheart Kayle, who passed away just two weeks prior.

Born November 22,1942 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to James Ray Jorgensen and Delma Mortensen Jorgensen. She was the youngest of four children, also being the only girl Colleen had three forever protectors and heroes in her older brothers who she admired and loved fiercely.

During her childhood years Colleen did not like to be too far from her Grandma Jorgensen, spending much of her time with her grandparents on their farm outside of Mt. Pleasant. If she was not with her grandmother then you could find her with her lifelong best friend, Connie.

Colleen attended school at North Sanpete High school and Brigham Young University. She met and fell in love with her eternal companion Elbert Kayle Morley, the two were married and sealed for time and all eternity on June 15, 1962, in the Manti, Utah Temple. They created a life together and a love story for the ages. Together they welcomed into the world five children. Their posterity grew to include 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren who she loved and adored greatly.

After Kayle finished school, Moroni became the place they would call home.  While Kayle was a turkey farmer’s son, Colleen was forever a sheep herder’s daughter and there were some lambing seasons where she would have nearly 20 bummer lambs in her care while also raising her young family.  When her children were older Colleen became employed as the secretary of the Seminary in Mt. Pleasant for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a position she held for 24 years.  She loved her seminary students. Many would find excuses to sit in her office where they knew they would be warmly welcomed in and offered a treat stowed away in her drawers. During this same time period Colleen was also employed for the North Sanpete School District where she served in various roles including that of Librarian and pianist for the middle school choir.  Colleen loved to travel and entertain.  Her love of travel would lead her to become a travel agent.  With Kayle by her side, they created many memories together traveling with friends and family.

Colleen will be remembered for many things. A talented pianist and organist, she served as the ward organist from the age of 12. Anyone could call her to accompany them, and she would accept without even needing to practice. She provided accompaniment for numerous events including North Sanpete Junior prom. Together Kayle and Colleen built their dream home where they labored side by side. Colleen had a green thumb as some would say and with Kayle’s help their yard became an artistic masterpiece for many.  In the summer one could find themself admiring the abundant garden, variety of trees, shrubbery, and flowers and how they complimented one another.  Colleen’s artistic masterpiece though did not end when the flowers had wilted, and the leaves had fallen.  When snow blanketed the ground Christmas was near which also meant Colleen’s Christmas lights would be on full display.  People would travel for miles to see her home and yard lit up for Christmas.  She took great pride in her Christmas light display. It was a labor of love for her community that took her and Kayle months to prepare.

Colleen was happiest when entertaining her grandchildren, hosting annual events that included an Easter egg hunt, hotel sleepovers near Christmas time, 24th of July camping at Fairview Lakes, and deer camp cookouts.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Colleen served in many positions over the years.  Her time spent in the Young Women program was one of her most enjoyable callings, leaving a lasting impact on those she served. Girls camp with Colleen at the helm was second to none.  She had a testimony and love of her Savior Jesus Christ.  She exemplified Christ’s love in the service she rendered to those around her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Elbert Kayle Morley; her parents, James Ray Jorgensen and Delma Mortensen Jorgensen; her brothers Keith Jorgensen and Robert   Jorgensen; and son-in-law, Alisa Jessop.

She is survived by her five children: Teresa Kaye (Darren) Hone, Alan Kayle (Shalmarie) Morley, Kimberli (Alisa) Jessop, Greg (Amanda) Morley, Mary Catherine (Kirk) Larsen; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and her brother Neil Jorgensen.
