Don Andrew “Moose” Thompson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. A lifelong resident of Ephraim, Don lived a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work on the gas truck.
Born and raised in Ephraim, Don spent nearly his entire life here, leaving only to complete his degree at the University of Utah, to serve in the Army National Guard, and to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the United States Gulf States. Much of his mission was spent in Louisiana and Tennessee, and his mission helped shape the foundation of service and faith-filled devotion that defined his life.
Known affectionately as “Moose,” Don began working with his mother at Thompson Oil Company at just sixteen years old and went on to own and operate the business for decades. He approached his work as he approached his life: with integrity, reliability, and a genuine desire to help and uplift others.
Don was an “example of the believers,” and his greatest joys were faith, family, friends, and his dachshunds. He and his beloved wife, Lynda, later served together as senior missionaries in the Florida Tallahassee Mission, making many dear friends. Don also cherished his years as a Snow College Stake Patriarch and sealer in the Manti Utah Temple, where he found profound meaning and peace in performing sacred ordinances to bind families together for eternity.
Don is survived by his wife, Lynda; his children Andrea (Ross), Chet (Jill), Garen, and Chris (Audrey); and twelve cherished grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Eva Thompson; his brothers, Pete and Kent; and he and Lynda’s infant son, Clint.
Don will be remembered for his quiet strength, his persistent optimism, his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, and his lifelong commitment to serving God and family.
