Donald Reed Christiansen, resident of Ephraim for the past 8 years, age 88, passed away on Thurs., Nov. 30, 2023 at GoodLife Senior Living & Memory in Mt. Pleasant, to whom we are very grateful for their diligent & thoughtful care, and for the conscientious service of the United Healthcare Hospice people as well.
He was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Los Angeles, CA, to Reed Olson Christiansen and Leona Bryner of Sevier & Carbon Counties, respectively. His 3 brothers are John of S. Jordan; Gordon (Marsha Ney) of Orem; and Richard (deceased). Their grandfather, Hans Christiansen, was born in 1871 in Ephraim Fort.
Don served a 2 ½ year mission to Finland, then completed his dental doctorate from USC Dental School in 1963. He married Patricia Siefert in the Los Angeles Temple that same summer of 1963 – 60 years ago, and they have 7 children, 4 sons and 3 daughters: Glenn of Bishop, CA; Kevin (Naomi Lund) of Orem; Jana (Don Greer) of New Canaan, CT; David (Wendy Wiscomb) of Missoula, MT; Sara (Dave Callahan) of Bountiful; Reed (Carolyn Cornaby) of Mapleton; & Rachel of Spanish Fork.
After practicing dentistry for 37 years, he retired in 2000 and served another 2 year mission to Finland with his wife and was a temple worker for 12 years. They have 24 grandchildren. He is now serving elsewhere. We will all miss his cheerful disposition, creative humor, and readiness to play catch.
Don practiced dentistry in Glendale and Bishop, CA, and enjoyed skiing, gardening, and hiking. He served in various church callings, including being bishop (of Bishop), and enjoyed watching his children grow into productive adulthood (& become skiers, too).
The viewing will be Fri., Dec.8, 9:30-10:30, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 in the LDS chapel in S. Ephraim at 765 S. 100 E., Ephraim, UT 84627. Interment in the Ephraim Park Cemetery.
