Dorothy Lucille Winkler Pay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully on July 19th at the age of 88. She is the daughter of J. Harold and Pearle Winkler and was born and raised in Mount Pleasant, Utah.
Dorothy married Paul Vincent Pay on October 9, 1954. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple. She has nine children and over 90 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by three siblings, her brothers Harold (Joyce) and David (Janice), and her sister Patricia Ihrig. She is also survived by eight children, Trish Beimert (Buddy), Joy Doane (Larry), Melody Phillips (Richard), David (Teri), Mark (Teri), Michelle Sawyer (David), Charmaine Morley (Kelly), and Tiffiny Hatcher (Paul).
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beth Graham, her husband Paul, and her daughter Trixie Jensen.
Dorothy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and faithfully served in all its auxiliaries. She and Paul served two missions at the San Diego California Temple and dearly loved her service there. They also served a mission at the San Diego LDS Employment Center and a mission at the Anchorage Alaska Bishop’s Storehouse.
Dorothy loved to sing and was blessed with a beautiful voice. She was classically trained as an opera singer. While she gave up a career of singing to raise a family, she gladly and freely shared her talent in many church and community events. She was also very creative and artistic. All of her family and friends have received special homemade cards that are beautiful and truly a treasure.
Dorothy was always happy and had a smile on her face. Everyone who knew her loved her smile and fun personality. She and Paul had many adventures including raising their family in Mount Pleasant, residing many years in Alaska and living for over 16 years on a boat in the San Diego Harbor.
REVISED FUNERAL VENUE: Funeral Service will be held Saturday July 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant 4th & 5th Ward Chapel (49 S State St, Mt. Pleasant) with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to services. Interment in the Mount Pleasant cemetery.
