Duane William Melville

February 13, 1937 — September 9, 2018

2/13/1937 ~ 9/09/2018

Duane William Melville, 81graduated from this earthly life to be greeted by many loved ones beyond the veil on Sunday, September 9th, in his home surrounded by his family in Fillmore, Utah. He was born on February 13, 1937 to Brigham Lafayette Melville and Bernice Stone in Fillmore, Utah.
He took Larona Oliphant as his eternal bride and they were sealed for time and all eternity on June 1, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He is survived by his wife Larona Oliphant Melville, his children Kevin (Christina) Melville, Tena (Joe) Wright, Michelle (Jeff) Harris, Shane Melville, Heidi (Dietrich) Culley, Mindy (Allen) Barkdull, Adam (Mellissa) Melville, 30 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and his brother Lamar Melville. He was preceded in death by his parents Brigham and Bernice, his step dad Rod Stott, his son Troy, 3 grandsons, Jed Harris, Elijah Melville, Kyle Melville, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Duane was a man of many talents, the biggest talent being his kind compassionate heart.
He was loving to everyone and never spoke an unkind word about others. He was a chef his whole life working at various jobs. It all started at Café Ilene in Fillmore, Utah and his last job cooking was for Fillmore Community Hospital. He was best know for his cream pies, cinnamon rolls, BBQ sauce, and his salsa. People would come for lunch at the hospital when Duane was cooking. Another of his talents was being able to create anything from just random junk and turning it into a creation of wonder. Duane enjoyed working outside even more than cooking, he was always creating new flower beds, moving them and adding new plants and flowers. As people would drive by his yard, they would almost drive off the road to look at his spectacular masterpiece. Most of all he was proud of his family, he loved each of them unconditionally and made each feel like they were his favorite. With 8 children, 30 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a beautiful wife, his heart always had plenty of love to give. He wanted all to know how much he loves his Savior, Jesus Christ, and he tried to live like Him everyday. He enjoyed serving and being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Duane and his wonderful wife attended the Manti Temple for the last several years almost every Tuesday.
We will miss him greatly, but know he is having a grand reunion on the other side.
