Edward Charles "Ted" Matthews

Edward Charles "Ted" Matthews, son of Leslie Matthews and Dorothy Bertha Matthews, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, passed away on 15 August 2026 at his fathers home in Mesquite, Nevada following a short battle with cancer. Ted was born 3 September 1955 at Simcoe, Norfolk, Ontario, Canada. Ted spent his first years living with his parents and older sister Amy in their home near Simcoe , Ontario. He and his family moved and lived in many areas as his father was a pilot in the Royal Canadian Airforce. Eventually the family settled in St Hubert, Quebec and Ted's younger sister was born. The family immigrated to the US in 1968 moving to Redwood City, California where Ted attended school. Ted joined the Army and served active duty as an infantryman. He served in many places including, Panama, Germany, Texas, and other areas. He was an expert marksman and earned his parachute badge. After Ted was honorably discharged from the Army he returned to his family who had moved to Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He attended college in Provo and eventually earned a degree in engineering at Weber State. He married Terrie Lynn Anderson later divorced. They had four children, William (Angela) Matthews, Heather (McKay) Blackburn, Jessica Montoya, Stephen Matthews. And seven grandchildren. Ted was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Bertha Matthews, and son in law Nickolas Montoya. He is Survived by his father Leslie Matthews, Mesquite, Nevada, sister Amy Elizabeth (Tom) Bevilockway Glenwood, Utah, sister Leah Rose (Todd) Anderson Moroni, Utah. Family Graveside services will be held at the Moroni City Cemetery Friday 18 September 2026 at 11:00, with visitation starting at 10:30. A luncheon by the Moroni 2nd Ward Relief Society will follow at 12:00 at the Moroni Stake Center, Moroni, Utah.
