Elbert Kayle Morley, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on July 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Kayle was born in Moroni, Utah to Elbert Henrie (Hank) and Mary Denison Morley and was the eldest of six children. He graduated from Moroni High School, then went on to attend Snow College and Utah State University. He began his professional life as a dedicated teacher, influencing the lives of hundreds of students. Later he pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a full-time farmer and turkey grower, a role he embraced with passion and pride.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kayle served a mission in Perth, Australia. Throughout his life, he served in many callings, including Bishop, member of the High Council, and counselor in the Stake Presidency. One of his most cherished callings was as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, a position he held for many years.
On June 15, 1962, Kayle married his eternal companion and best friend, Diane Colleen Jorgensen, in the Manti Temple. Together they raised five beautiful children. He adored his family, which grew to include 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Kayle was a powerful example to his posterity. He taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work, integrity, and service. Through both word and action, he passed on life lessons that shaped their character and will continue to guide their lives.
Kayle was known for his love of the outdoors and his gift for gardening. He took great pride in maintaining his beautiful yard and home. Some of his fondest memories were made at Fairview Lakes, where he and his family spent time camping, fishing, and hunting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Henrie (Hank) and Mary Denison Morley; his sisters, Mary Lou Birch and Joan Holman; and his son-in-law, Alisa Jessop.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Colleen Jorgensen Morley; his five children: Teresa Kaye (Darren) Hone, Alan Kayle (Shalmarie) Morley, Kimberli (Alisa) Jessop, Greg (Amanda) Morley, Mary Catherine (Kirk) Larsen; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his sisters: Deon, Pat, and JoAnn.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00 am in Moroni Stake Center. A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, with an additional viewing prior to the services on Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Moroni Stake Center. Interment will be at the Moroni City Cemetery.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to CVMC Hospice Care (especially Julieann Parkin), caregiver Angie Lunt, and Rasmussen Mortuary for their kind and compassionate service.
