FloEtta Frandsen Bowers suffered a stroke on August 29th 2026. She died at her home at Crossroads in Delta Colorado Sept 10th. 2026. She was 94 years old.
FloEtta is survived by her 3 children: Richard Page of Gunnison, Utah, Kerry Dorius of Cedaredge Colorado and Debra Thompson of Cotopaxi Colorado. She is also survived by her 5 stepchildren Delwyn, Ken, Robert, Dean, and Gene their 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Grant Bowers, her father Art Leland Frandsen, mother Alice Arnoldsen Frandsen Cardwell, brother Leland Frandsen, sister Rhea Leonard, half sister Joy Clement and step daughter JoAnn Bowers Bailey.
FloEtta had wonderful memories of her childhood on the Frandsen hill farm between Mt. Pleasant and Moroni. She remembers pumping water from the well outside the back door and sleigh riding with the neighbors. In 1942 at the beginning of WWII her family moved to the Salt Lake Area where her father worked as a mechanic for the Army. He died of a brain tumor on June 1st 1946 just weeks before her 14th birthday.
When she was just 18 years old FloEtta married Keith Hayes April 15th 1951. She divorced him in 1954. She moved from SLC to Riverton Utah to be near her mother Alice and stepfather Bill Cardwell. She sewed custom clothing for clients and all the clothing for her children including shirts and trousers for Richard. She would piece together leftover fabric from to make dresses for her girls. We girls would sit under her machine and make doll clothes with the scraps. She taught us all to sew including Richard.
In 1961 she married Lynn Page. They made a home and built a house together in Riverton. Flo had a sense of humor. One year she made chocolate “Hostess” cupcakes but instead of cream filling she put a cotton ball in the center of each one. She gave them to us when we came home from school. I suspect she also passed them out to the neighbors. No one wanted seconds. The Page marriage ended in divorce in 1979.
In 1986 she married Grant Bowers and they moved to LaVerkin Utah. Together they built a beautiful home and landscaped it with native plants rustled from the nearby desert. FloEtta was very active in the LDS church in LaVerkin. Her family also loved to visit her there as she lived very near Zions National Park. She also knew where to find all the good petroglyphs and the names of the beautiful desert plants. She loved doing family genealogy. Flo wrote her history, her mother’s history and Grants family history. The Bowers family returned FloEttas love and accepted her into their large loving family. Sadly, Grant died January 25th 2001. He loved FloEtta and treated her very well.
Flo loved doing handwork especially crocheting with fine thread. She won multiple sweepstakes at the county and state fairs for her fine work crocheting doilies, bedspreads and tablecloths. She was also a fine quilter. One year for thanksgiving she gave all her immediate family members beautiful quilts handmade by her. There is a photo her sitting behind the stack of folded quilts with only her head peaking above them.
FloEtta traveled to Alaska multiple times to visit Kerry. She also went to Hawaii with her Sister Rhea. In 2009 she took a cruise with her cousins Sue and Joleen where many of Arnoldsen and Frandsen ancestors had immigrated from.
In 2019 FloEtta moved to Delta Colorado from LaVerkin to be near her daughters Kerry and Debbie. She had macular degeneration and although she initially responded well to treatments, it was a problem for her to drive. Although she missed her friends in Laverkin, she loved her home at Crossroads and made many friends of both the residents and staff there.
There will be a private graveside service at the Moroni cemetery on Saturday October 17th at 11 am with a potluck at the Moroni park to follow.
