Floyd T. Gardiner, 68, unexpectedly passed
away peacefully on June 8th, 2025 at 2:22 pm at Utah Valley Hospital,
surrounded by his loving family.
Floyd was born to Florence Irene Howell and
Floyd Turner Gardiner in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 31st, 1956.
He graduated from Kearns High School in 1975,
where he met his future wife, JoLyn Gardiner. He met JoLyn when he was 16 in
Kearns Utah, they got married after a few years of being together. They would
end up celebrating 48 years of marriage. The newlyweds then moved together to
Mount Pleasant Utah after Floyd was offered a job as a coal miner at Deer
Creek. After leaving his job at Deer Creek as a coal miner he received a job
offer to work for Mt Pleasant City. Ultimately he got a great opportunity to work
at the Skyline coal mine where he would later retire. He was the most devoted
worker dedicating over 20 years at the Skyline coal mine as a highly respected
foreman.
Floyd was a man of many talents and wore each
hat with pride and passion; a present father, warm grandpa, thoughtful husband,
chef, craftsman, mechanic, spiderman, and most of all a dessert lover. Floyd
could always be found near the dessert table or offering you a new flavor of
creamies. With all of his talents he left many pieces of him behind with
everyone, recipes, a sweet tooth, and his craftsmanship in homes.
He was always prepared with a story or a joke,
making everyone laugh till they cried, and always had an infectious smile on
his face. Floyd never failed to put a smile on everyone’s face no matter the
circumstances, he exuded a joy that you could feel just by being near him.
Floyd was an amazing man that touched so many
lives, he had a heart bigger than the world. Hud never failed to show up, he
was the most reliable, he was always in the stands cheering for his children's
events and was proud to be the biggest supporter of his grandchildren’s sports
careers.
He spent his time fishing, camping, hunting,
and spending time with his family and friends. He dedicated time to being a
volunteer firefighter as well as a member of Sanpete Search and Rescue. He
created lifelong friendships everywhere he went.
