Listen to Obituary

Fredrick "Fred" Robert Stephens, beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, from Fountain Green, Utah passed away on February 13, 2026, at the age of 48. Born on April 29, 1977, to Pam and Jay Stephens in Salt Lake City Utah. Fred is survived by his parents Pam and Jay, his three younger brothers Lucas, Colby, and Makay, and his son Norther Stephens. He is preceded in death by his older brother Jayson, Grandparents Warren and Zelda Stephens, and Robert and Louise Brathwaite.

From a young age, Fred's unique perspective inspired creativity and curiosity. He spent countless hours wandering the hills and hidden canyons surrounding Sanpete Valley, southern Utah, Arizona, and many other wilderness areas. Fred fell in love with the mysteries of the past. This curiosity led him to dedicate much of his life to searching for Native American artifacts, arrowheads, and ancient tools. He was always excited to share his finds with friends and family.

As an artist, Fred channeled his outdoor adventures into vibrant landscapes and abstract works that captured the spirit of his childhood in the Sanpete Valley. His paintings, exhibited in galleries, homes, restaurants, and other establishments, extend throughout the Rockies and across the world. Self-taught and always independent, he worked from a modest studio in the back room of his parents home. Fred's pieces grace the walls of many homes in Sanpete and beyond.

Fred found fulfillment in a canvas with a paintbrush, storytelling around campfires, and mentoring other artists in the community. His legacy lives in the trails and hills, the artifacts he preserved, and his art work that lives on. Our greatest joy as a family is knowing we will be together again.

A celebration of life will be held in Fountain Green Utah at a later date - to be announced.
