11/3/1942 ~ 11/1/2019
Gary Ray Underwood, 77, of Spring City, UT went to heaven peacefully on November 1st, 2019. He was born in Cortland, NY on November 3rd, 1942 to Ray Cowan Underwood and Mary Anne Pilat, both deceased. Siblings, Dave and Walt, are also deceased. Gary was raised in Groton, NY, but made residences in Apache Junction, AZ; Beaverton and Columbia River Gorge, OR; Lyle and Tenino, WA, and Spring City, UT. Gary had a deep love of his country to include the US flag, veteran’s, bald eagles, and wolves. Although he did not serve in the military, he had a profound love for those that did. He was also a devoted fan to the New England Patriots and Nascar racing. Gary was known to love the Oregon Coast, Multnomah Falls Oregon, and the Superstition Mountains in Arizona. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years catching his first shark (deemed a sturgeon later) in the Klickitat River. He worked in various aspects of construction throughout his long career. He also had a special fondness for gardening and growing tomatoes. Gary was known for his wicked sense of humor and stubbornness. He would laugh at all the health advice he received from his daughters! Most importantly Gary loved his family and is survived by five daughters, DD, Christina, Tawnya, Cece, and Micky; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his ex-wives, Cynthia Monagon-Knudsen (friends for 70 years), and Sheila Campbell. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation for Disabled Veterans National Foundation, or other Veteran’s charity of choice. Formal memorial services are not currently planned. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com
