Glenn V. Whatcott, age 93, passed away at his home in Kanosh, Utah, on May 28, 2022. He was born on May 25, 1929 in Kanosh, Utah to Vincen Robert and Dora Myrl Paxton Whatcott.
Glenn married Joyce Stevens on November 14, 1948.
He was one of the few oldest living members of the “born, raised and lived in Kanosh his whole life” club.
In his early years, after marriage, he owned his own truck and hauled feed and eggs for Utah Poultry Association, later known as IFA.
Glenn worked for the Bureau of Land Management for 35 years.
During this time, he was a supervisor of the summer fire crews for the BLM and had many local young men that worked on those crews.
He received an award from the BLM for designing and building a pipe laying attachment used to lay pipe with a cat and a ripper to pipe water from springs to watering troughs used for livestock and wildlife.
He was one of the founders of the Kanosh Fire Department and also served as a Kanosh Fire Chief.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors and camping. At the age of 82, he finally bagged his trophy bull elk.
When he retired, he and his wife, Joyce, enjoyed their winters in Big Bend/Lake Havasu, AZ, making a lot of friends and enjoying life together!
He was a talented welder, a competitive washer player, a helpful neighbor, and loved spending time with his family. He knew no strangers.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Stevens Whatcott, Kanosh, UT; Children – Jeff (Gayle) Whatcott of Holden, UT; Bruce (Linda) Whatcott of Kanosh, UT; Doug (Michele) Whatcott of Mapleton, UT; Pam Whatcott of Sandy, UT; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; Brothers – LaMont (Karen) Whatcott of Fillmore, UT; LaGrand (Marsha) Whatcott of Pleasant Grove, UT; Sister-Genece (Ben) Black of Ephraim, UT; Preceded in death by parents – Vin and Dora Whatcott; Great-grandsons – Dalton Whatcott and Jaxon Whatcott; Sister – Birdean (Jesse) Beckstead.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Kanosh Town Cemetery. Friends may visit at 10:30 am prior.
