Guy Gordon “Gg” Young

September 4, 1943 — December 21, 2021

9/4/1943 ~ 12/21/2021

Guy Gordon “GG” Young, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 after a short illness.  Gordon was born on September 4, 1943 the only child of Guy Wilson and Vera Maurine Hermansen Young in Ephraim, Utah.

Gordon proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from January 1964 – June 1971 receiving two Good Conduct medals, two Vietnam Service medals, a Cross of Gallantry and many others.  After serving two tours with distinction in Vietnam, Gordon retired from the Marine Corps.  The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as many friends and family will attest.

Gordon worked hard to provide for his family, spending many years mining coal and many other various jobs.  Always thinking of others, Gordon was a volunteer firefighter for Ephraim City.

Gordon loved hunting, fishing, camping and anything else outdoors. One of his favorite things to do was to get stuck in the mud.  Many countless hours were spent by friends and family rescuing him from these predicaments; oh, what great memories they created for all involved!

Gordon is survived by his seven children, Melanie (Javier) Robles, John (Jennifer) Young, Ginger Young, Heather Young, Mike (Emily) Young, Kyle (Corinne) Young and Troy Young, along with 17 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two “sisters”, Carmen Daugherty (Charles “Cherokee” ) and Vickie (Phil) Candelaria.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Margery Burton Young his parents, Guy and Maurine Young and one “brother” Charles “Cherokee” Daughtery.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Ephraim Stake Center, 400 East Center, Ephraim, UT at 11:00 am, with a viewing from  9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Ephraim Park Cemetery.
