Jack Edward McBride 94 passed away on July 2, 2024 at Orchard View assisted-living in Payson Utah. He was surrounded by his children and his favorite nurse Paige Steele. He was born July 20, 1929 so he was just shy of his 95th birthday, to William Eugene & Lillian Nelson McBride in Fillmore, UT. He married Edna Smith on February 23, 1951 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Soon after He was drafted into the army and served in Germany in the Korean War. When he returned they made their home in Fillmore, where he worked on the farm with his father. For a time he had to work away until he was able to purchase the Avalon theatre which made it possible for him to stay home and be a full-time farmer. He and Edna ran the Show House for 46 years, with the help of family and friends. He was active in the community. He was on the city council for two terms on separate occasions. He was treasurer for Chalk Creek Irrigation for many years. He enjoyed riding horses on the mountains, looking for cattle and just being with friends. He and Edna loved to travel he was able to go on several trips.
He was a diehard Washington Redskin and New York Yankees fan. He was able to go to Yankees games at Yankee Stadium & at Dodger Stadium. After his wife passed he moved to the Orchard View assisted living, where he experienced a lot of new things, and made a lot of new friends.
Jack is survived by his children, Jana (John) Whicker; Terri (Ross) Cummings; Scott (Cheryl) McBride; Todd (Laurie) McBride; Jacci (Bevan) Johnson; 18 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren, 1 step great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Edna; siblings, Mary Johnson, Barbara Reese, Janet Nowell, Mack McBride; son-in-law John N. Whicker.
We would especially like to thank the staff of Canyon View Home care, the CNA‘s, nursing staff and aids at Orchard View assisted living. The love and care they showed our father will never be forgotten.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fillmore City Cemetery with a viewing at the cemetery starting at 9:00 a.m.
