August 21, 1934 ~ November 4, 2020

James Boyd Mickel passed away on Nov. 4, 2020. Boyd was born on Aug. 21, 1934 in Spring City, Utah, to Dortha and Harold O. Mickel. He was the oldest of 4 children, brother Harold, and sisters, Dixie and Beverly. He was raised in Spring City, until he served his country in the military, serving in the Korean war. After returning home, he married Karen Kay. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on April 11, 1958, and have been together for 62 years. Together they raised 5 children; James, Vickie, Mark, Leslie and Scott.
Growing up in Spring City, Boyd had a love for horses and the mountains. While helping his father and others with the sheep herds, he was able to enjoy both. After he married Karen, they moved to Salt Lake City. He worked a few different jobs, until eventually making a career at the Newspaper Agency, from which he retired as a fleet manager after many years of service. Boyd retired and returned with his wife to Spring City. He was a member of the city council of Spring City for several years. Boyd was always willing to help others, and enjoyed serving his community and country. For many years he served with the American legion to help those in need in the community. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and extended family, enjoying many activities. He loved to tease, and had a great sense of humor.
Boyd is survived by his wife Karen; children, James (Michael Ann) Mickel, Vickie Mickel, Mark Mickel, Leslie Mickel, and Scott (Kami) Mickel; 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren; brother Harold L. (Jean) Mickel; sister, Dixie Sperry; and sister, Beverly (Ruel) Christensen; all who love and will greatly miss him.
