Jerold J. Barentsen, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully in his home in Fairview, UT on Saturday May 27th surrounded by his family and loved ones.  He was born in Spring City, UT on May 6, 1941, the son of Carlton and Blanche Barentsen.  He married his high school sweetheart, DeAnn Christensen, on September 24, 1960, in the Manti Temple and they spent over 60 wonderful years together.  They raised 5 children and were blessed with 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and he was happiest when surrounded by his family.  Jerry was a faithful member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many callings throughout his life.  One of his favorite callings in the church was serving as a fulltime missionary in the Philippine’s with DeAnn.  Through his service many people felt the Savior’s love and many lives were touched.  Jerry felt a closeness to the mountains and always held a deep appreciation for God’s marvelous creations.  This connection to nature started at an early age when Jerry spent time with his father in the mountains caring for sheep.   His passion for fishing in local mountains with close friends and family members was a cherished pastime where many spectacular memories were built.

Jerry had a unique ability communicating with people and used this skillset throughout his professional life in many leadership roles.  This skillset led his family to 17 different locations winning the hearts of all who knew him.

Jerry is survived by his wife, DeAnn; his children Alan (Tina) Barentsen, Ken (Mardel) Barentsen, Susie (Darin) Hansen, Amy (Aaron) Gardner, and Chris (Kara) Barentsen; his sisterJoan (Dale) Larsen.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, and sister.
