John Corky Maughan

John Corky Maughan passed away November 30, 2022 on Legacy Mountain, Fairview, Utah, where he worked and lived nearby in Mt. Pleasant, Utah for 16 years.
Corky was born to John and Gladean Gillman Maughan in Los Angeles, California on May 25, 1967. He lived there until he was four, then his parents decided to move back to Utah. He grew up in American Fork, Utah, graduated from American Fork High School, then went on to work for his fathers construction company as a heavy equipment operator.
In 2006, he moved to Mt. Pleasant to work on Legacy Mountain Resort, operating and developing sites for luxury cabins, building and maintaining roadways, and was the water master for the Legacy Sweetwater, the community water company.
Corky enjoyed all sports but his true passion was motorcycles. In his earlier years, he raced motorcycles and was immediately put in the Pro class, soon becoming #1racer in the state of Utah in motocross, desert, and flat track earning him the title of 1G racing for 7 years in a row. He still holds many state records.
He is survived by his girlfriend and partner of 16 years, Nicole McCormack. His children Jordan (Bretta) Maughan and Rylee (Stephen) Unsworth; his 4 grandchildren, Jaxxon, Braelynn, Camden and Creighton; his sister Cindy (Sean) Maughan; his brother and best friend Chance (Jody) Maughan; and his dog Clank Milah and Ratchet.
Corky is preceded in death by his parents John and Gladean, and his dogs Milah and Ratchet.
Corky was a great person, he would do anything for anyone, and will be dearly missed. Love you Cork!
The family would like to thank the Sanpete County Sheriff, Search and Rescue, and especially Kirk and Aimee Gamble for all their help, support, and kindness.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:30 -10:30 in the Barn Building at Wadley Farms (35 East 400 North, Lindon, Utah 84042). Interment will be held in the Orem City Cemetery. On line condolences at rasmussenmorturary.com
