John Richard Jarman

December 26, 1958 — October 13, 2023

North Salt Lake

John Richard Jarman, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, returned with honor to his heavenly home on October 13, 2023, after battling lymphoma cancer.

John was born December 26, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by step-mother, Linda Moss Jarman, and three brothers; Joe (wife-Sandi), Jim (girlfriend-Bridget), and Darren (wife-Debbie).

John was preceded in death by his biological parents, Richard A. Jarman, and Ila Winder, a step-mother, Sandra Duke, brother, David, and half-siblings; Martha, Kayo, Christine, Andy, and Emma.

John graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1977. During his lifetime, John lived in many cities, including Salt Lake, Roy, Sandy, Moab, and North Salt Lake.

During his lifetime John worked for American Fence company, Atlas Minerals, Sperry, Unisys, and lastly, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before retiring.

John took in his cousin Curtis, when Curtis was in desperate need, and they became the best of friends. John cared for Curtis for 32 years until Curtis passed away 5 months ago in April.

John was loving, warm-hearted, generous, kind, and always willing to help others. He loved animals, especially Kelly and Marlene’s dogs and cats, whom he would frequently visit and play with. John especially loved his cat, Kubla, who died a few months ago, and asked that the ashes of his previous cat, Too Wong Foo, be placed in his casket and buried with him.

John was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served honorably in the Canada Winnipeg Mission from 1980 to 1982.

John had a firm, unwavering testimony of His Heavenly Father and His Redeemer Jesus Christ. John knew where he came from. He knew why he was on earth, and he knew where he was going when he died.

Although John suffered for years from many, many health problems, he never became bitter. John was always upbeat and uncomplaining. He truly believed Alma’s words; “I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.” (Alma 36:3).

John is now free. He has been lifted up and taken home to that God who gave him life.
