Leo Ray Shepherd, 18, returned home to his Heavenly Father on November 29, 2025, following a tragic car accident alongside his beloved girlfriend, Anneka. He was welcomed with open arms by his Grandma Bev, Grandpa Ray and many other loved ones. He was born on April 23, 2007, in Payson, Utah, to Joel and Cheryl Shepherd, and from the very beginning he brought a gentle, steady light into the lives of everyone who loved him.
Leo loves the Savior and possesses many Christlike attributes. He is kindhearted, compassionate, loyal, patient, and all that knew him thought of him as a gentle giant. Leo was the baby of the family, He had a quiet strength that made people feel safe just being near him. He loved deeply, helped freely, and had a way of showing affection through teasing; if Leo teased you, it meant he truly loved you.
A true cowboy at heart, Leo loved the simple and rugged things of life. He especially loved coyote hunting, hunting ducks and birds with his dad and his big brother, R.J., and spending time outdoors doing the things that made him feel alive. Leo relished the times he spent working on the farm and helping anyone in need. He loved good old country music. Leo also loved going on road trips, adventuring to new places, going fishing, and going camping with his friends and family. He shared many of those adventures with his loyal dog, Rooster, who was never far from his side.
Leo treasured his family, He is survived by his loving parents, Joel and Cheryl Shepherd, and by his siblings who adored him: Sarah Hodgdon (David), Jessica Boudreaux (Caldon), Samantha Butterfield (Danny), Shantell Hansen (C.J.), and Reed Joel “R.J.” Shepherd (Lexi). Also by his Grandpa Shirl Don Shepherd and Grandma Chelta Arens.
Leo was a proud and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews: Carson, Morgan, Tayson, Paisley, Levi, Hunter, Brecken, Ridge, Emeree, Easton, and Beverly. Being “Uncle Yo-Yo” to them was one of the greatest joys of his life.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Leo filled every moment with goodness. We take comfort in knowing that families are forever and that we will see him again
