Listen to Obituary
Majorie Ann Decker, 81, born July 7, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA, passed away peacefully at her home in Spring City, Utah, August 18th, 2025, after a difficult drawn out illness.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Elmer A Fredrickson, and Majorie Sarah Sample, her brothers, Fred Fredrickson, Joseph Fredrickson, Jim Fredrickson, and her husband of fifty years Robert F Decker.

She is survived by her children, Danna Lowe (Kenneth Lowe), DeAnna Decker, Robert W. Decker (Lisa Decker), sister Mary Jane Fredrickson, sister Janice Hart, and brothers Donald, Robert, and John Fredrickson, six grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and her cat Petey Sweetie.

Mom’s younger childhood was spent living next to her grandmother, and great grandmother in Compton, CA, thus “Straight outta Compton” jokes, where she was taught how to garden, and raise animals for the table. Her and her family moved to Las Vegas in the mid-fifties, where she enjoyed hiking, boating, rockhounding, and many Las Vegas shows, where she also met the Rat Pack, she loved fast cars, catching lizards, and made life-long friends. Mom was an original flower child, leather headbands, sandals, leather boots, bellbottoms, and flowers in her hair, yet she easily transitioned into a girly-girl with her show curls, go-go boots, and cat-eye eyeliner.

Divorcing her first husband, Jerry Reynolds in 1973, she married Robert, and traveled all over the US, finding new adventures in hunting, antiques, mushrooms, embroidery, macrame, beading, cross-country skiing, water skiing, ice skating, roller skating, photography, giving everyone her opinion, and again, making life long friends.

Mom was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and although she was LDS, she attended Catholic Schools, not a fan of nuns, or the word of wisdom, in 1980, our parents made the decision, to buy and settle, in of all places, Sanpete County, where her third great grandfather, Christian Christensen helped settle Ephraim, Utah. This brought the country girl of her youth out, where she gardened, created and landscaped a beautiful two acre yard, while her son Bobby did most of the heavy lifting, as our dad was out on the road, at yet another nuclear power plant. Mom was a hard worker, who kept an immaculate home, we have fond memories of coming home from school, seeing her grooving to her music, with a doobie hanging from her mouth.

She vibed the ganja, until the government began drug-testing, which she stated was a real bummer. She loved playing chess, cribbage, fishing, and ice fishing; she was an excellent shot with her hunting rifle, felling large elk and deer, at least fifty percent (or more), than her husband. She enjoyed bowling, and took home numerous trophies from the Senior Games, and her local league team for decades. More than anything else, mom enjoyed being with her family, I hope they always remember how they took the time to be present meant to her, mom always wore a hat and zero filter, this could be uncomfortable at times, but everyone knew where they stood with her.

We wish to thank our dear family friends, the Sterners, the McKays, and the Lusty’s for their ongoing love and support, and the hospice team from Intermountain Health for assisting us to keep her comfortable and cheerful for the past six months, and her son-in-law Kennith who carried her everywhere she wanted to go, once she couldn’t get around by herself, shout out to Blake at Terrels, for understanding the situation

Thank you also goes to Rasmussen’s for the impeccable job in preparing our mother and our grandmother.

Service will be held at the Rock Chapel in Spring City, Utah on September 13th at 11a.m., followed by an internment at the family cemetery and family home after the chapel services. Rumors are there may be mud-wrestling later on that day, however the old people will be hiding out in the house.
