Marjorie Gay (Nielsen) Harward

Marjorie Gay (Nielsen) Harward, 82 of Provo Utah passed away peacefully at her home Friday morning, May 19, 2023. She was born to Burton Nielsen and LaPrele Morley September 15, 1940. Her birthplace was in the home of her grandmother, Maria Sophronia Jensen Morley. She grew up in Spring City, Utah and attended Spring City Elementary and the combined High Schools of Moroni High and Mt Pleasant High.  She graduated from

Mt. Pleasant High in 1958.  She attended one year at Snow College and thenmoved to Provo, Utah where she met her future husband, W. Gary Harward. They were married civilly on March 9, 1962. Their marriage was solemnized on October 9, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Marjorie and Gary served together in two service missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She taught English as a second language and they served a second mission working with the Facilities Management Office that over saw 75 buildings. They would go and inspect buildings and let the FM group know what areas that each chapel was needing some help in. The FM group would then dispatch their engineers to take care of the issues that were identified. They loved the work they were doing and especially the people they got to help along the way.

Through her faithfulness, she served in many different church callings sharing the gifts and talents that Heavenly Father blessed her with. She had a beautiful singing voice and was very good at the piano. She was able to play most things, even if she hadn’t seen the music she was being asked to play. She loved the sisters in her ward. She made many lasting and enduring friendships in her associations with others. She loved her association with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She would attend faithfully and made it a priority.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Burton and LaPrele Nielsen of Spring City, Utah. She is survived by her eternal companion William Gary Harward, her children: Devon Harward (Cynthia), Paul Harward, Jared Harward (Alison), Amy Kreutzkamp (Michael), Maria Davis (Jason); Siblings Denise Fonger, Bryce Nielsen, Larry Nielsen, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and one more on the way.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Grandview 1st ward chapel located at 1500 North 1350 W Provo, UT 84604. There will be a viewing beginning at 9am until 10:30am at the church.

Interment will be held at the Spring City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. The Spring City Cemetery is located approximately half a mile west of town on Highway 117. If you are in town, simply turn West on 300 North and you will drive right past it. This cemetery is notable for the grave of the Apostle Orson Hyde, who’s home still stands on Main Street.
