Marlene Williams

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Marlene Adams Williams, passed away peacefully on Dec 28, 2025, at the age of 90. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she lived a life full of love, faith, and quiet strength.

Marlene was born on March 8, 1935, in Parowan, Utah, to Thomas Randall and Alice Evans Adams. She was the oldest of 5 children with 2 younger sisters, Eleanor and Moana, and 2 younger brothers, Randy and Brent. She spent much of her childhood on the mountains above Parowan and around Parowan with her aunts, uncles and grandparents.

On a blind date, she met her future husband, Elved Williams. They were married for time and all eternity in the St George Temple on Feb 17, 1955. Together, they raised 5 children–Alisa, Ross, Hal, Linda and Brenda–living in Cedar City, Parowan, Kanab and Monticello. They finally settled in Santa Clara, Ut, where they all worked to build a home together.

Marlene dedicated her life to raising her family with love and intention. Her greatest joys came from caring for those she loved. Whether it was sewing clothes for her children or crafting quilts for her grandchildren, she gave her time and talents freely. She was always willing to help, never shying away from hard work, and found purpose in serving others.

One example of her dedication and hard work was her involvement in family history. Marlene spent countless hours researching and writing. She learned a variety of family history computer programs and became skilled enough to teach others how to use them. She served a part-time mission as an instructor at the St. George Family History Center from December 1997 to January 2005. She also helped open a new Family History Center in Santa Clara, Ut, where she completed her mission. Marlene worked tirelessly to gather stories and information for our family, writing many family histories and discovering numerous relatives.

She had a spirit of adventure and a curiosity about the world. Over the years, she traveled far and wide, embracing new places and experiences with joy. Making many memories between California, Utah, Colorado and Hawaii visiting with her children in their homes.

Marlene leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love. She will be remembered for her strong hands, her generous heart, and her kind and loving ways.

She is survived by her children: Alisa (Chip), Ross (Cindy), Hal (Ruth Ann), and Brenda (Brett), her son-in-law Norman (Tanya), and her siblings: Eleanor (Ed), Randy (Kathy), Brent (Donna) and Moana (Gary). She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Paul, husband, and daughter, Linda.

Funeral services will be held on January 10, 2025, at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel at 90 South Main, Parowan, UT. Interment will follow at Parowan City Cemetery.
