A legacy of love…
Mary was born in Provo, Utah to Henry Vernal Abbott and Edna Ruth Bergman as the second of four girls. She spent her youth in Salt Lake City, UT and had many adventures with a the many friends from her neighborhood.
Mary married her sweetheart Carl on December 3, 1964. Together they had two sons and a daughter. There life was full of adventures. They lived in various places in Utah but lived the majority of their life together in Holden, Utah. They owned several different properties with cabins and loved to camp with their family.
Mary is survived by her Husband Carl, her sister Sandy (Gene) Rolfe of Cedar City, Utah and her 3 Children: David (Holly) of Flowell, Utah, Suzie (Patrick) Grogan of Holden, Utah and Adam (Marie) of Holden, Utah, Her grandchildren: Travis, Alina, Taylor, Ruth, Karen, Isaac, Jacob, Nathan, Jessen, Kevin, Joni, Kris tin, Bridger, Brindy, Acacia, Zeke, Kippen, Zailey and Zyen, her Great Grandchildren: Jayden, Gavin, Trinity, Travie, Orion, Isabella, Marina, Raynee, Jeffrey, Harrison, Ally, Remington, Anna, Silas, Evelyn and Jacob. Mary is preceeded in death by both her parents and her sisters Julie and Kathy.
Mary loved to teach children. She started her teaching journey by teaching her two younger sisters to read. She owned a daycare and preschool for many years and loved to teach her nursery kids their numbers and math as well as phonics and reading. Mary created lessons, lesson books and many, many learning activities for her daycare and she also taught many of her grandchildren.
In her spare time Mary had many pursuits. She created beautiful art through oil painting, she loved to crochet, draw and to write letters to loved ones and to write poetry. She enjoyed doing temple work with her Holden friends.
Mary loved people young and old and has truly left a legacy of love.
Mary’s Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00 am. At the Holden Ward Building located at 100 N. 110 E. In Holden, UT.
