Michael Eugune Segle, born February 16, 1938 in Ury, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at the age of 88 at the Mervyn Sharp Bennion Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, Utah. Mike was the proud son of a West Virginia coal mining family who lovingly referred to him as Mickey or Mick. From them he gained the attributes of being honest, conservative, and hard working. He met and married Janice Buffington on December 23, 1956. In 1957, they welcomed Michael Eugene Segle, Jr. They were converted and baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1958. In 1960, they divorced and in 1961, Mike was drafted into the Army. After his initial training, he was recommended for a position at The 1st Battle Group, 3rd Infantry (Old Guard) Honor Guard Company in 1961 at Fort Meyers, Washington, DC for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, while the rest of his company was sent to Berlin, Germany. He also served in Pres. John F Kennedy’s Honor Guard from 1962-1963. He believed the Lord guided him to meet Peggy Doreen Small, while she was serving in the Eastern States Mission. He followed her home to American Fork, Utah where they were married on December 6, 1963, in the Salt Lake City Temple. In their 63 year marriage, they moved 28 times from coast to coast as they raised their 4 children, Shaun, Derek, Zane and Amber. They now have 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who love and adore them. Mike is affectionately known and loved for his witty banter, infectious belly laugh and great big heart.
Mike was proceeded in death by his parents, Fred R Segle and Beulah Mae Segle, as well as his grandson, Cayden Zane Segle.
Mike is survived by his wife: Peggy D Segle; and children; Michael E Segle, Jr, Shaun D Segle, Derek F Segle, Zane U Segle, and Amber D Timmons.
