Pamela Jean Despain

September 3, 1954 — May 5, 2018

9/3/1954 ~ 5/5/2018

Pamela Jean Despain, age 63, gave the love of her life, Donley L. Despain Jr, a beautiful wide eyed smile before passing away May 5, 2018. She bravely fought her battle with cancer until the end. Pam lived and traveled all over the world, but called Fountain Green, Utah her home. She was born September 3, 1954, in Salt Lake City to Leland and Iona Rasmussen.
Pam grew up in the small town of Monticello on their family ranch with her 6 siblings. They lived a simple country life and had fond memories of laughing, cooking, sewing, and shopping with her Mom. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1972.
Just after graduating, she moved to Orem where in October of 1972, Don swept her off her feet. At the young age of 18 and 19, the love birds were wed June 2, 1973, starting a beautiful marriage lasting nearly 45 years. In 1990, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the London, England LDS Temple.
They began their journey with the U.S. Air Force and lived many places including New Mexico, Florida, Nevada, California, England, Texas, and finally put their roots down in Fountain Green, Utah. Pam cherished the lifelong friends that came with their worldwide travels.
All she wanted to be was a mother, which she accomplished by raising and loving their four children. The only thing she wanted more than being a mother was for her kids to fulfill her quota of 12 grandchildren. Luckily, in October 2017, one year after her cancer diagnosis, her quota was met as she watched the birth of sweet Campbell. The grandkids will always remember grandma being the life of the party.
Everyone who knew Pam would say that she was a creative genius. She was always happy to share her talents; whether that be painting, singing, writing, or drawing. Her happy place was up in the mountains where she could look down on the beauty that surrounds us. She found joy in her grandchildren’s laughter, the smell of rain, the sound of the ocean waves, and playing endless games with family and friends. Traveling the world with Don opened her eyes to many experiences that made her grateful for the life she was blessed with. Pam’s membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints gave her a firm foundation to build her life upon. We love her example of unwavering faith, joy, and optimism throughout her life.
Pam will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend Don, their precious children, Randy, Russell, Shandra (Randy), Stacey (Nathan), and her 12 grandchildren. Pam’s siblings, Roger (Gwen), Boyd (Georgia), Susan (Bob), Rex (Naomi), and Debbie (Steve) will miss their sister greatly.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leland and Iona Rasmussen, and her brother Doug.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 11, 2018 at 1:00pm in the Fountain Green Chapel, 151 South 200 West. Viewings will be Thursday, May 10th from 6-8pm; May 11th from 11am-12:30pm both at the church. Interment in Fountain Green Cemetery.
