Randy Joe Allen

February 19, 1951 — May 10, 2018

2/19/1951 ~ 5/10/2018

Randy Joe Allen passed away on May 10, 2018 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Randy was born on February 19, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Doyce Clair Allen and Lilly Mae Tucker. Growing up Randy loved his pets, being with family, and playing football and baseball.

On January 21, 1968, Randy was sledding with some friends when he struck an embankment and broke his neck. He spent a lot of time recovering in the hospital, where he met his dear friend Cal Johnson. Though he became paralyzed, he defied the odds and was able to walk for a time with crutches and he regained limited use of his hands and upper body. He also had two sons: Benjamin Thomas Allen and Tyler Joe Allen.

Randy spent his career working for Xerox in California and Salt Lake City, Utah. He loved being outside with nature. He loved to feed the deer and the birds. He loved pets and had several dogs, cats, and a bird over the years. He had a green thumb; his house was filled with plants and his deck was covered with flowers and tomato plants. Randy enjoyed working on cars (he owned a couple of AMXs and a VW Beetle) and driving fast. He loved listening to loud music of all genres, but oldies was his favorite. He enjoyed having fires in the fireplace in his garage and visiting with friends and family.

Randy is finally free from the body that trapped him for 50 years. We will miss his humor, his crazy facial expressions, his tight hugs, the nicknames he called us, and his love.

Randy is survived by his sons: Ben (Erin) Allen and Tyler Allen; his grandchildren: Hanna, Beck, and Nixon Allen; his siblings: Mike (Jeanne) Allen, Debbie (Mont) Larsen, and Connie (Kevin) Blanchard; and countless extended family members and friends.

As per Randy’s request no funeral service will be held.
