Kanosh, UT, Richard Kimball Black, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, passed away at his home in Kanosh on January 18, 2019. He was 77 years old.

Richard was born on February 2, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA to Rulon C. “Hap” and Rose Kimball Black. Richard was the oldest of three kids, and graduated from Delta High School. In 1963 he served in the US Army Reserve.

Richard met his wife, Shirlene Greenhalgh on a trip to SLC. They were married in Meadow Utah on December 21, 1963. After 50 years of marriage, Shirlene passed away in 2013. For over 20 years, Richard and Shirlene lived in West Jordan, UT where they raised their family of 3 boys.

Richard enjoyed working as a firefighter/paramedic for the Salt Lake County Fire Department, where he was Captain and served for over 30 years. Upon retiring in 2004, Richard and Shirlene moved to Kanosh, where they built their dream home and he continued his passion by volunteering for the Kanosh fire department.

Richard loved a good game of golf where he was a regular at the Fillmore golf Course. He loved spending time outdoors. He knew if there was a single weed or a flower out of place, and had a specific system of mowing his lawn. His green thumb extended to his garden.
