Listen to Obituary

Roy Samuel Cox passed away September 25, 2026 in Mesquite, Nevada. Sam was born on November 9, 1947 to Carlyle and Reva Cox. He was the third of six boys. Sam attended North Sanpete High and graduated in 1966. He attended Snow College then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1971. His service included a one year deployment in Udorn, Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Sam married Bobbie Allred in 1973. After Bobbie’s passing, Sam married Peggy Liebhardt in June, 2021.

His professional career revolved around driving semi trucks. He worked for several trucking companies before starting his own company. His trucking company expanded into a business where he and Bobbie managed fifteen trucks that delivered mostly to the western United States. They sold their business in 2015.

Sam often reflected on the happiest time of his professional career was when he worked with his brother, Woody, long haul trucking for IML.

Sam loved the outdoors; especially hunting and fishing. He excelled at both. He enjoyed collecting guns and was an excellent marksman.

He was very determined. If he decided to do something he was not to be deterred. He was immaculate in dress and care of his vehicles. Anything Sam chose to do, he did his best.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Carlyle and Reva Cox, brothers; Woody and Bill Cox, and wife; Bobbie Cox. He is survived by wife; Peggy and brothers; Ron, Eddie and Randy.

The family expresses extreme gratitude to Peggy for making Sam so happy the last five years of his life.
