In Loving Memory of Sarah Carolyn Llewellyn Seely September 8, 1948 – July 4, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we write this in remembrance of our beloved mother, mom passed away on the morning of Friday, July 4th, in Payson, Utah, surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 8, 1948, in Fairview, Utah, to Hayden and Twyla Llewellyn. At the age of 16, she moved to San Palo, Brazil with her parents, who were serving a building mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After returning home, she graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1968.

On March 11, 1969, she married Stewart Seely in Fairview, Utah. Dad was enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and shortly after they were married they began a life full of travel and adventure together. They moved to Hawaii, then to Bethesda, Maryland, where they welcomed their first son, Stew, in 1971. Shortly after that they moved to Puerto Rico in 1977, while living in Pensacola, Florida, their second son, Preston, was born. In 1981, the family moved to Camp Pendleton, California, and welcomed their third son, Justin. In 1988 after retiring, they returned to Utah where she has resided.

Throughout all these moves and duty stations, no matter where we lived (even The Dump)—or how humble the home—Mom always made it a place of comfort, laughter, and love. She had a gift for turning any house into a true home.

Mom had a deep love for family and traditions. She made sure we never missed a family reunion and instilled in us the importance of staying connected. Because of her, the 24th of July has become a cherished annual family gathering on the farm in Fairview—a tradition she was already planning and looking forward to again this year.

She had a love for yellow kitchens, and looking back through photos, we realized almost every kitchen she ever had was painted yellow. It suited her warmth and sunshine. She loved sunflowers, purple pansies, cardinals, and the sound of meadowlarks singing in Fairview.

Every summer, no matter where the Navy had taken us, Mom packed up her boys and made the trip back to Fairview to spend the season with her family. Fairview was always home away from home, a constant thread woven through our lives.

Our mom, like so many moms in this world, was truly a special lady. But to us, she was one of a kind. Her strength, her sense of humor, her devotion to her family—those are the things we will carry with us.

We will always love you, Mom.

She is survived by her sons, Stew & Erin, Preston & Summer and Justin. 8 grandkids and her brother in law, Gene Sharp. She is preceded in death by husband Stewart, her parents and siblings.
