FILLMORE, UT – Shirley Bartholomew Stephenson, Age 96, passed away peacefully at Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi, UT, on January 26, 2024, surrounded by loving family members.
She was born October 15, 1927, in Fillmore, Utah, to Orlo Verne and Zola Lyman Bartholomew.
She married Scott Simeon Stephenson on May 3, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on August 27, 2008.
Mother loved her family. Her greatest joy came from her grand and great grand kids and spending time with her family. She was always so proud of their accomplishments and enjoyed their visits.
During her final years mother missed being able to be outside working in her yard, especially mowing her lawn, but was still able to appreciate the beauties of nature. She especially enjoyed watching the leaves change color in the Fall and seeing a beautiful sunset. She liked to joke with people and enjoyed having a good laugh. She enjoyed reading and even at her age was still able to read without glasses.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Duane, Francis and Carlyle, and sister Beth B. Whatcott.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sheila (Nick) Sandberg, Monticello, UT, and Shanna (Kenly) Bitton, Ammon, ID; four grandchildren, Reagan (Heather) Sandberg, Ryan (Gaby) Sandberg, Summer (Brent) Lynch, Shae (Curtis) McEntire; eight great-grandchildren, Scott (Christy), Trevor, Zachery, Ashley and Gabriel Sandberg and London, Peyton, and Emma McEntire, many nieces, and nephews whom she dearly loved.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to family and friends for the many acts of kindness shown to us at this time. Your kindness is a gift that will be appreciated forever.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fillmore LDS 4th ward at 330 East 500 South. Visitations will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services, both at the church. Interment will follow at the Fillmore City Cemetery.
Thank you, Mother, for your love, your example, your faith and for sharing your life with us. We look forward to that glorious day when we will all be together again.
We will love you forever,
Your Family
