Stanley B "Butch" Giles

Stanley, son of Earl and Ruby Giles was born April 10, 1944 in Heber City, Utah. Stanley was the youngest of 6 children. He passed away suddenly but peacefully, at home in Moroni, Utah on December 19, 2023.

Stanley married his high school sweetheart and lifelong best friend, Dianne Simmons on September 7, 1962. Their marriage was later solemnized, surrounded by their 6 children, in the Salt Lake Temple on December 29, 1977. Stanley’s life was centered around his family. He loved camping with his family. He also loved hunting and fishing with his son, Gary. In his free time, he could be found in the yard or on the computer working his family’s genealogy. Every year around Christmas, he made his family famous fudge, a favorite tradition for all his children and grandchildren. He was endlessly devoted to his wife, Dianne and family. All adored and cherished their time with him.

He was deeply devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had many church callings in his life. Stan and Dianne served three missions together. First at the Lindon Cannery, in Lindon Utah where they served for three years. Second, they served a mission to Cove Fort, Utah for 18 months. Lastly, they were currently working for the ROC (Records Operation Center) in Moroni, Utah. They loved their service there and the people they served with. His service impacted the world and his family’s lives in so many positive ways. He had a gift of connecting with people and left behind many close friends.

Stanley B Giles was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl and Ruby Mae Stanley Giles; his siblings, Audrey (Royal) Giles, Chloe (Nyal) Smith, Ruth (Jay) Sulser, Boyd Giles, his brother-in-law, James Prescott; his son, Gary S Giles, son-in-law, Earl Sperry; and grandson, Evan Millsap.

Stanley B Giles was survived by his wife, Dianne Simmons Giles; his sister, Earlene Prescott, and sister-in-law, Betty Giles; his children, JulieAnne Wankier, Angela (Eric) Millsap, Sondra Sperry, Catherin (Randy) Dalton, Elizabeth (Kyle) Snider, his daughter-in-law, Juanita Giles, his honored son-in-law, Brian Wankier; along with 27 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held December 28, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Rasmussen Mortuary. The address for the mortuary is: 96 North 100 West, Mt. Pleasant, Utah 84647.

There will be a second viewing held December 29, 2023 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Midway Town Hall in Midway, Utah. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM. The address is: 120 West Main St. Midway, Utah. Stan and Dianne attended many dances as young sweethearts and eventually celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in this hall.

Stanley B Giles will be laid to rest in the Charleston Town Cemetery in Charleston, Utah.
