Tessie LaJune Hansen Cloward

June 13, 1926 – Fountain Green
August 6, 2023 – Orem, Utah

On August 6, 2023, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend Tessie LaJune Hansen Cloward was called home, at the age of 97, after living a full and wonderful life. She was born on June 13, 1926, in Fountain Green, Utah, to Clifton D. and Lillie Anetta Hansen.

Tessie met the love of her life, Leo Morley Cloward, who danced his way into her heart. They were married on July 23, 1948, in Nephi, Utah. They built their home in Moroni, Utah, where they had one son Judd Leo (deceased), and five daughters Kae (Howard) Newton, Gae (Jim) Furniss, Cindy (Clyde) Fredrickson, Julie (Mark) Adamson, and Melanie Cloward.

Tessie was a hard worker and worked for many years at the sewing plant in Manti, Utah, and the turkey plant in Moroni, Utah. She made friends easily and was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Red Hat Society. She also served in many church callings, including as a primary teacher for many years. She enjoyed attending the temple and often invited those who could not drive to accompany her.

She was a kindhearted, gentle, and a caring person who loved life and expressed unconditional love. She enjoyed reading, reciting poems, dancing, sewing, crocheting, and playing games; her favorite game being Canasta. She was a devoted mother who always looked forward to spending time with her family. Her home was always a place to gather for sweet treats, food, family, and friends, which she truly cherished. Her smile was bright and she liked to laugh, joke, and tease.

Tessie is survived by her daughters, 19 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild on the way, and sister, Connie Prestwich. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son; sister, Etta Irons; brother, David Hansen; grandsons, Clyde Fredrickson IV and Raymond Newton; and great-grandson, Ezekiel Furniss.

The family wishes to express a special appreciation to the nurses and aides of Summerfield Retirement and Assisted Living for their compassionate care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Moroni LDS Stake Center with a viewing from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment in the Moroni City Cemetery.

Recordings will be available for 60 days from time of service.
