Listen to Obituary

Valorie May Day Hare, 70, gained her angel wings on April 9, 2026 with flowers in her hair and in the comfort of her family and friends’ love, wellnesses, and blessings, and in her hometown as she so desired.

She was born May 1, 1955 in Fillmore, UT to Miranda and Blaine Day, with black hair, in a family of seven children. When she was young, she made many friends in church and school, but in 1971 her best friend, Bonnie, moved here and were by each other’s side enjoying life for 55 years.

Working as a Carhop, cruising Main Street in muscle cars, and enjoying the Age of Rock and Roll, she graduated from Millard High in 1973. As the beautiful blue eyed-blonde she was, she had many interests from young men, and married Neil Worsley, bringing her first ray of sun, a baby boy in 1976.

Her next bundle of joy was born in 1983 after the marriage to Dave Buhler.

At last, she married DeMar Hare, and mothered three more children and lovingly stayed with Demar till his passing in 2018. In 1997, her first grandbaby was born, and since then she has affectionately given her heart to eight grandkids and will be missed by each one. She touched the lives of many families and we are grateful for her as a wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.

Valorie was a keeper of plants and their pretty blooms, though she found comfort and security in animals, and kept many “best friends” in her life. She found serenity in her home collecting angels, fairies, butterflies and birthstones, and loved when she received any of these as a gift.

She was thankful in return and would also give with little she had to see her friends and family smile. She honored traditions such as bags of candy for each grandkid on Halloween, wrapping Christmas presents in unrelated boxes that would be opened in surprise, and cards of money and full of love.

She enjoyed crafting, painting especially window art, and sewing with her family and gave many quilts in the celebration of new milestones in life. Her home was also decorated with the many photos of her family but she proudly displayed her grandkids. She always asked for photos of the kids and loved having them around and keeping memories they have had.

Valorie also was an ear to many and could talk on the phone, and in person. Opinionated in her own ways, you never really knew what she would say; appropriate or not, you got her thought. It’s “love you,” she enjoyed to say, when you stopped to say “hey” or the grandkids came to play.

In her later years, she relied on her daughter to help her out. Going to the store, birthdays and dinners too, I really think she would really like to say “thank you.”

We as the family of Valorie Day would like to thank Fillmore Community Hospital’s staff, for always making it a caring place. In her last days, her son was by her side, showing her love and having to say goodbye with love shown in many ways even just a smile on their face.

Valorie is survived by her siblings, Connie and Blaine; children, Travis, Stacy, Richard, Jared and Dee; grandchildren, Kaidence, Alex, David, Annastacia, Ember, Isac, Cyress, and Eli; and her dog, Sox. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her sisters, LuAnn, Salina, June, brother Lynn, son David, and husband DeMar, and Grandma Coleen.

Valorie’s funeral will be held Wednesday, April 29 at 10 a.m. in the Fillmore 1st Ward building, with a graveside service at 11 a.m., where she will be returned along her parents and family, to be laid at peace.
