Listen to Obituary

Wayne E. Starley was born September 23, 1946, in Fillmore, Utah, to Dell LaVoy and Renee Starley. Passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Wayne grew up in Fillmore working on their family farm where he learned the meaning of hard work and dedication. He graduated from Millard High School in 1965 he was a member of the FFA. After High School he went into the Job Corps. After finishing his training with the Job Corps, he traveled all over the country, he would call home occasionally to let family know where he was and where he had been. One of his favorite places to travel and work was Alaska working for a logging company. He also worked for a ranch in Falon, Nevada where he cared for the horses that were used in the John Wayne movie “True Grit”. The most exciting part of that job was when he got to deliver the horses to the Warner Bros. Studio in California and met John Wayne himself. Throughout his travels he ended up in Kokomo, Indiana where he met and married his sweetheart of 53 years Alice Jeanne Miller on September 24, 1971. He worked for Nash’s Hog Farm in Sharpsville, Indiana until 1982. They decided to move back to Fillmore to work on the family farm where he remained until the end. Wayne was a member of the East Millard Riding Club for several years. Family was everything to Wayne. He would drop what he was doing to help friends, family, neighbors and other farmers that needed an extra hand. He loved to visit with people when he said he was going into town mom knew she wouldn’t see him for hours because he always found someone to visit with. His favorite things to watch were old Westerns, Horse Racing and Rodeos. His Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren were his biggest joy in his life.

We hope heaven has a BIG shop for you to “Tinker” in all Day!!

Together Wayne and Jeanne had 4 children, Regina Gorrell (Jamie), Steve Miller, Alyssa Prows, Thomas Starley; 7 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers: LaVoy (Patsy) Starley, John (Sharla) Starley, Scott Starley; 2 Sisters Helen (Glen) Quarnberg, Geneal (Ray) Mays; many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
