William P. Conner Jr., affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully at his home in Moroni, Utah, on May 29, 2026, at the age of 94. He was the son of William P. Conner Sr. and Imogene Tueller Conner, born on April 17, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bill graduated from Granite High school, and later attended LDS Business College.
Bill was fascinated by flying. He earned his private pilot license at the age of 16, an accomplishment that reflected both his determination and adventurous spirit. His love of airplanes remained one of the great joys of his life. He enlisted in the US Airforce on December 17, 1951 and proudly served his country (See Attatch Military Service History Below). Following his military service, he built a successful career that included serving as a Commercial DC-3 Pilot, a supervisor at Magcorp, and later as a manager for Motel 6 properties in California, among other jobs. He was known for his strong work ethic.
Bill was an active member of the LDS Church. He was most proud of his calling as an ordinance worker in the Manti Temple where he served for 15 years.
On September 23, 1960, Bill married Dorothy Davis. Together they welcomed a son, William Park "Bill" Conner III, and a daughter, Cynthia Lea Bell. Their marriage ended in divorce. On December 4, 1986, Bill married Erin Moss in Evanston, Wyoming, later solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple. They shared many happy years together until Erin's passing in October 2018.
Bill is survived by his children: William Park "Bill" (Cathy) Conner III, Cynthia Lea Bell; and by his stepchildren: Stanley B. (Shauna) Haacke, Charles M. (Dona) Haacke, Danielle H. (Mitch) Hood, and Gaylene H. (Bruce) Jensen. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty C. Edwards; wife, Erin M. Conner; stepdaughter, Margaret Haacke.
Those who knew Bill will remember his independent spirit, his love of flying, his dedication to community and family, and his unwavering faith. Whether in the cockpit of an airplane, serving in the temple, or spending time with friends and family, Bill approached life with determination and purpose.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with friends and family gathering at the Moroni City Cemetery .
