September 28, 1973. That’s the day that the world became a bit more compassionate, gentle, and definitely more ‘ornery. William Paul White was born to Tom and Joanne White, the fifth child in a long string of intensely close siblings who fought like cats and dogs yet depended (and still do) upon one another for everything. The shy, tender little boy grew into a strong young man who fell for the love of his life , Laura King, in high school. They started their family, welcoming daughter Shayla (White) Merrill, and, after moving to Sanpete County, daughter Ashley (White) Curtis, and finally, son Tyler White rounded out their happiness.

Bill and Laura, married for 35 years, made their forever home in Wales, Utah where they thrived. Billy surrounded his family with his horses and other farm animals, gardens, and a larger-than-life personality. He was a football player, rodeo clown, bull rider, welder, farmer, horseman, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Over the years, his loved ones watched as his beard grew longer and greyer and his hat taller and saltier. It always seemed he was bursting with life and love.

The joy of his life are his grandchildren, whom he adores. Shayla and husband, Jordon Merrill’s children, James and Lydia, made his heart grow 10 times bigger. Ashley, and husband Justin Curtis’s Brexlee added even more space in his heart and the day he died; Hudson William Curtis was ushered into the world – no doubt guided to his family safely by his grandfather Bill.

Billy is survived by an army of people who are devastated that he had to depart too soon and that will continue to laugh with him, love him, and keep his family close always.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 6 beginning with a public viewing from 9:30 -10:30 am followed by a Celebration of Bill’s Life at 11:00 am at the Wales, Utah LDS Church house. Interment in the Wales Town Cemetery.
