 Betty Jean Aagard September 4, 1926 - August 31, 2010 Betty Jean Despain Aagard, 83, of Fountain Green, died peacefully in her sleep at her home on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. She was born in Salt Lake City on September 4, 1926 to George Eugene and Delphia Rees Despain and grew up in Moroni, Utah. She graduated from Snow College and attended the University of Utah. Betty married Vance W. Aagard on March 22, 1948 in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. They are the parents of four children: Brad, Ann, Scott, and Ellen.
As a young woman, Betty worked at Snow College and at the Utah State Department of Education. When her children were born, she became a full-time mother and helped her husband run his sheep ranching operation. An accomplished pianist, she spent countless hours playing for weddings and funerals, accompanying vocal and instrumental performers, serving as organist of the church choir, and playing for school performances. She instilled a love of and appreciation for music in her children and grandchildren. Mom loved harmony, and on family trips, she would instigate sing-a-longs in the car. David Ruland Martindale Jr. was a man of many names, and with a loving wife, five children, four stepchildren, 39 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, he had as many people to love as he did nicknames.
Dave was born January 29, 1930 in Long Beach, CA to David Ruland Martindale, Sr. and Nora Leone (Wilson) Martindale. His stint as a California native didn’t last long—his family moved to Oakley, ID where Dave became a true Idahoan—down to his love for potatoes!
Dave was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His favorite hymn? “Oh, Bob Israel” which is what he “thought” was the title of “Hope of Israel” as a child.
This Eagle Scout became a champion pole-vaulter—breaking state and division records and winning the national title by clearing 13-9 on a bamboo pole in 1952. His highest jump was 14’.
Not only did Dave excel in pole-vaulting, but he was an avid volleyball player and athlete. He graduated from Oakley High School in 1948 and later earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Idaho and a Masters degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. ... She was the mother of six children and had 20 grandchildren, 40 ggrandchildren and 2 gggrandchildren. Her love for this family knew no bounds. They were her most prized possessions. Each and every one of these children was made to feel special by her. In return her love was reciprocated in equal measure. Her memory will live on in these families. No sacrifice was ever too much for her in regard to providing for her family.
She was known as a tireless worker and devoted wife and mother. ...  Arlea Howell May 12, 1928 - August 15, 2010 Arlea Mae Hope Howell returned to her Heavenly Father on August 15, 2010. She was born May 12, 1928, in Spring City, Utah, to Rudolph and Crystal Delila Hope. On June 4, 1948, she married the love of her life, Demont Hurst Howell, in the Manti Temple.Arlea served her community, church, and family in many capacities. She was a true teacher in all areas and levels and ended her public teaching career as the principal of Spring City Elementary School. She helped establish and support children’s libraries in all the schools where she worked and at Snow College as a support for the Children’s Literature class, which she taught for many years. Arlea was a member and leader of the DUP and worked diligently to preserve things of historical importance and value as well as helping to establish the Ephraim Pioneer Park, the Scandinavian Festival, and the Mormon Miracle Pageant in their early years. She was honored as Utah Mother of the Year in 1995 and as an Outstanding Alumnus from Snow College.

ROGER BROWNING BAYMILLER died August 5, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV after a brief hospital stay. He was born on October 25, 1941 in Phoenix, AZ, to Browning Baymiller and Wanda Whiting Baymiller. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shary Sue Baymiller and by both parents.
His family moved from Phoenix to Los Alamitos CA. He graduated from Anaheim Union High school in 1959 where he lettered in gymnastics and received several academic honors.
After graduation, Roger attended Arizona State University. He joined the ROTC, rose to the rank of Commanding student Lt..Colonel and graduated in 1963 as the outstanding ROTC Cadet.
At ASU he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Blue Key graduating with honors with a degree in Political Science.
Roger served approximately two and a half years in a Refugee Interrogation Center near Frankfurt, Germany, serving as the battalion’s financial officer and the administrative officer of the center.
Roger married his high school sweetheart, Kaye Nielson, on October 6, 1964 in the LDS Swiss Temple.
After serving his country he attended USC Law School and. graduated in 1968 as a member of the Order of the Coif. He retired as ...  Pedersen Sarah April 19, 1918 - August 3, 2010 Sarah Dye Pedersen passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 in Farmington, UT at the Country Care Center. She was 92 years old. Sarah was the first child born to Samuel and Mary Vivien Dye on April 19, 1918 in Wales, Utah (Sanpete County) She married her high school sweetheart, Clarence Jay Pedersen and was later sealed to him in the Provo, Utah temple. They lived together in their home in Spring City, UT until he preceded her in death fifteen years ago.
She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved bearing her testimony to her family of her belief in her Father in Heaven and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved the Book of Mormon and enjoyed her many callings in the Church. She was a happy, loving woman who was possibly the richest woman on earth because according to her she had everything she needed and because she was loved and adored by all who knew her. Even at the end of her life at Country Care Center she was making new friends every day.

He was born November 6, 1931 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Lawrence Julius Sanger and Mina Alice Dutton. He received two Bachelor degrees and a Master’s degree at the University of Nebraska. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He taught business classes and worked as a program analyst at the Tooele Army Depot for many years.
Married Willa Louise Linch in 1956, later divorced. They had three children, Debra Simonson, Dale Sanger (deceased), Rita Magness. Married Ruth Young Conder in 1976 (deceased). Married Walli Luise Poepel in 1987. Marriage later solemnized December 31, 2005 at the Manti Temple. Preceded in death by his parents, son, Dale; sister, Lorraine Mark, and grandson, Wesley Magness.

Myrel Rowley April 17, 1927 - July 28, 2010 Myrel Bringard entered this world on April 17th, 1927 in Panguitch, Utah to Frank and Weltha Clark Bringard. The tenth of sixteen children, theirs was a home full of much happiness and love.
She will be remembered for her wonderful meals and fun sense of humor. She loved to dance, and is proud to have practiced with the famed Arthur Murray Dancers. She loved to read in her favorite oversized chair and kept her mind sharp doing crossword puzzles daily. She was very interested in politics. Throughout her life, she found joy in spending time outdoors in nature. She loved camping with her family, and also gardening. Music was a respite for her in the evenings, and she especially loved old country and western and traditional tunes. Mom always believed in looking her best. She was a very beautiful, classy lady.
Our sweet mother and grandmother succumbed to Lou Gehrig’s disease. She was called home on Wednesday, July 28th at the Fillmore Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Luana always had a joke to tell and had a great sense of humor. She loved children and had day-care in her home. She was a fabulous cook and many people were the recipients of her generosity.
A member of the LDS Church, Luana taught Pimary for over 25 years, and was a dedicated Visiting Teacher. She loved to sing and was a member of the Singing Mothers and she and Allan were long-time members of the ward choir.

Alice was born February 19, 1919 in Union, Salt Lake, Utah to George and Lottie Wright. She graduated from Bingham High School with the class of 1937. Alice married Woodrow Owen Christianson on April 28, 1942 in the Manti Temple. They lived in Hyrum, Utah for 26 years before they retired to the old family home in Fairview, Utah.
Alice was a member of the L.D.S. church and has had callings in Young Women’s and Sunday school among others; she also served in the Mexico Hermosillo Mission with her husband from 1984 - 1985 and was an avid temple patron. Alice loved to quilt, knit and crochet, and she was and expert gardener.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Christianson; an infant son, John Christianson; and a daughter, Alice Eileen Christianson. She is survived by her sons Owen, Kevin and Lane; daughter-in-laws Tressa, Cathy and Jessi; 28 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Douglas Cook June 30, 1929 - July 25, 2010 Douglas George Cook, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday July 25, 2010. He was born June 30, 1929, to Clark and Nita Snow Cook. He married FaNon Watson on Dec. 16, 1949, in the Manti LDS Temple.
Douglas was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many church callings throughout the years. He was a Priest Quorum advisor taking the young men on campouts to the west desert, Lake Powell, and other locations. He served as a High Priest Group Leader, in the Sunday School presidency, and as a counselor and clerk in two bishoprics.
Douglas was a rancher and sheepman. He enjoyed summers herding sheep on the east mountain and winters on the west desert. He had a great love for the outdoors. In his younger years, he played high school basketball, and did a little boxing while attending Snow College. The love of his life was spending time with his family and playing with the grandchildren, whether camping, herding sheep, birthday parties, or just simple get togethers, Douglas was proud of his family.
He is survived by his wife, FaNon of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, ...  Othneal (Neil) Peterson November 10, 1924 - July 25, 2010 Othneal (Neil) Peterson 1924 ~ 2010. Neil Peterson, 85, passed away July 25, 2010 at Bennion Care Center in Taylorsville, Utah. Neil was born on November 10, 1924 in Sterling, Utah to John and Katie Funk Peterson. He married June Virginia Menzies on March 2, 1967 in Ely, Nevada. She passed away on August 19, 1990. They were later sealed together in the Manti Temple on August 20, 1991.
Neil served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was aboard the USS Bismark Sea when it was sunk off Iwo Jima by Japanese air attack in 1945. He survived after being in the cold water for over 9 hours and finally being rescued. Of the 1500 men aboard the ship, only 400 survived, with Neil being among them.
Neil spent many years herding sheep. He loved spending time in the mountains riding horses. He had a special fondness for the sheep dogs. Later he worked manufacturing trailers in Ephraim. His final years, before retirement, were spent working for Ephraim City taking care of the cemetery grounds. He was very particular about his work. He wanted to make sure everything was done correctly.

Fawn was born August 4, 1935 in Delta, Utah to Wesley and Fern McCullough Sampson. He lived in Delta, Utah where he met and married the love of his life Jeanette Lazenby on August 23, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had four children, Debbie (Stephen) Jensen, Delta, Utah, Karl (Denise) Sampson, Riverton, Utah, Sherri Wilcox, Delta, Utah, and Denyl Johnson, American Fork, Utah.
Fawn loved the out doors. He loved fishing, hunting, four wheeling or camping alongside his wife with any & all that would go with him, especially his children. Fawn was a member of LDS Church and served in the High Priest Presidency, Sunday School Presidency, Elders Quorum President and as a leader in the Boy Scouts.
Fawn is survived by his wife, Jeanette, Delta his four children, 15 (almost 16) grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. Norman Hutchins July 15, 1936 - July 5, 2010 Norman Joseph Hutchins passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Norman was born in Las Vegas, NV on July 15, 1936 to Blaza Rogdriguez and Howard O. Hutchins. He graduated from Ysleta High School in El Paso, TX in 1954. Norman served in the military in Germany. He was a firefighter in the El Paso Fire Department and retired with the rank of chief. He and Herlinda settled in Fairview in 1992 and is a member of the Fairview 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by his loving wife, Herlinda Bonilla Hutchins and their five children and spouses; Diana Jo Lott and Virgil, Norman Lance Hutchins and Ronda, Melody Hope Sanchez and German, Brenda Lynn Wall and Steven, Paul Osbourne Hutchins and Crystal. Norman is the grandfather of 21 and the great-grandfather of 11. He is survived by his brothers and sister; Robert Hutchins, Jacqueline Spilsbury, and John Hutchins. He was a pilot and had a chartering business where he flew celebrities around the country, including Mohammed Ali and Joey Bishop.
He was a football, baseball and basketball referee; high school through college leagues for over 40 years.
He retired from the Orange County Probation at the age of 70 in 2001.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, daughters, Trishia, Cynthia, & Cheri, son, James, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and brother, Bob & Doris Clarke. Preceded in death by his parents.

Born May 12th 1933 to Levoir Shepherd and Goldie Peterson in Mt. Pleasant Utah. Married Richard S Brewer later divorced, married John T Webb. Mom spent most of her years living in the Salt Lake Valley. After John passed away in 1998 she moved
to St. George Utah, where she met her companion Eldon. She was able to go with Eldon in the 18 wheeler for a while and saw many sights in the western US. She and Eldon spent a lot of time in the motor home going to Star Valley in the summer and to Quartzsite in the winter. Mom loved to see the wild cactuses bloom. The time came when moms health was failing and could no longer go on those trips, but she did have a favorite machine at the Eureka and spent time feeding it. She also enjoyed making jewelry and collecting teapots.

Robert Ketchum August 12, 1926 - June 16, 2010 Robert Dawes Ketchum passed away quietly June 16, 2010 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He was born in Sunnyvale, California August 12, 1926 to Wesley Harrington Ketchum and Katherine DeTuncq. He grew up in Mountain View, CA and attended Stanford University Medical School receiving his MD degree in Internal Medicine. He was a Captain in the United States Air Force serving in California and Germany from Oct. 1953 to Nov. 1955. He married Elaine Taylor, January 18, 1950 in San Jose, CA. Their marriage was later solemnized Sept. 1, 1986 in the Manti Temple. Robert was an exemplary husband and father, devoted to his family and to his church. He will be forever loved and greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Rick) Dyches, Spring City, UT; his son, Robert (Kim ) Ketchum, Englewood, CO; 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine and his parents. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi City Cemetery. Frances Leek April 16, 1928 - June 5, 2010 Frances Julia Rostron Leek, 82 of Moroni, UT passed away at her home June 5, 2010 from cancer. She was born April 16, 1928 in Moroni to John T.T. and Mary Ellen Nielsen Rostron. She married Robert H. Rosquist August 10, 1946 in Moroni; sealed in the Manti temple. They were later divorced. Then she married Ted Baca May 22, 1962 in Salt Lake City; they were later divorced. She married Jerry Leek on December 10, 1983 in Salt Lake City. He passed away November 20, 2006.
She was a member of D.U.P.
She is survived by children Mary Lou (Byron) Davis of Wales, UT; Ila Jean (Chris) Keele of St. George, UT; Edna Kay Hakala of Kearns, UT; Robert Hal Rosquist of Salt Lake City, UT; Ray (Paula) Baca of Loon Lake, WA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters, husbands Robert, Ted, Jerry, and grandson Ben Davis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 12 at 12 noon in the Moroni Stake Center with viewing from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Moroni Cemetery. Mom was welcomed by her savior and her family in heaven.
Mom was an accomplished pianist. She taught piano lessons for over 40 years, and loved her students. She played for many concerts starting with the LA Symphony in California, to concerts in Houston, culminating with playing the Warsaw Concert at Snow College for the Haitian Relief Fund. She was proud of the money raised. Her family was blessed by her gift and love of music.
Mom loved to hike. She wanted to climb up every hill she saw. She led her children and grandchildren on many 3 mile walks around Mt. Pleasant. Topaz Mountain was one of her favorite destinations. Mom made beautiful heirloom quilts. Her children and grandchildren have intricate handmade quilts, and her great grandchildren all have handmade baby blankets lovingly made. Mom loved road trips. Many trips were taken with Ed her husband then her family took over. Dorothy was always in awe of Gods creations and shared ...
